While not a big fan of Michael Bay, infact i didn't care for most of the movies he makes. But I couldn't turn down seeing this in the theatre after growing up on this stuff in the early 80s. All I can say is this movie was my star wars I saw it 4 times in the theatre and it never got old. In my oppinion it's one of the best action movies ever. Some of the way the reviewers reviewed the movie were funny, like saying how it was a big toy commercial. All I could think of was duh the movie is called Transformers! which is based on toys itself! then they complain about how it's all about the special FX or whatever. When you go see a movie called Transformers which is based on a saturday morning cartoon would you really expect a deep meaningful plot? if you want a good plot go watch an indy flick but if you want to watch stuff blowing up for 2 hours well then look no further than this movie! I love it! it's like a shot of adrenalin, the times I saw it in the theatre I came out all excited it was great.

I loved it but that is because I am a big fan of the transformers.
I grew up during the 80's watching them and many other cartoons. They still show the 80's cartoons of transformers over here but I have them on DVD.
The only few things I had a problem with was...
Optimus prime having a mouth
Megatron not being voiced by his original voice actor
Soundwave not being the cool robot he was and instead was a stupid gibbering idiot.
Jazz being killed
The movie was great and I loved it but the director did mess up a little.

Oh c'mon, you're not a fan of transformers! How you can even try saying something like this?

And what does that symbol for your avatar mean?

I never watched Transformers as a kid. I went into this movie not really knowing much about them. But, I loved it. It is funny, great CGI, and I loved all the characters. I know both Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox have been criticized, as well as the two who play the parents, but I thought they all fit their parts great. And John Turturro killed me! He was so awesome! My ex bought it for my daughter and we have watched it numerous times.

I saw it occasionally as a kid. But for the most part I just really liked the movie

seriously? I thought their performances were great, especially the parents ("earthquake!" *ducks under the table* "how did you get over there so fast?"

*loves*). Shia was perfect casting, and he and Megan Fox had good chemistry (though I do agree with critics who said that the whole loser-gets-hot-girl romance is really overdone, but it was still entertaining). Anthony Anderson was hilarious, as always - "don't talk to me criminal!" - but the one person who annoyed me was actually the Aussie girl. I've been asking everyone if our accent is really that annoying, or is it just her voice? I cringe everytime I hear her speak.

I go onto the IMDB boards once in a while and there are complaints about the parents, Shia and Megan. I liked them. And yeah, Anthony was funny, he makes me laugh everytime he goes off like that. Even Bernie Mac-when he does that laugh, I start laughing at him. There are so many good parts to that movie that I am dying laughing, still after watching it so many times. And the CGI when Bonecrusher starts skating down the highway it is awesome!

I really enjoyed this movie. My son can watch it four times in a row. I just think it's a lot of fun. I'm even willing to ignore all the logical gaps and inconsistancies only because I find the adventure so exciting. Plus I too, grew up watching the Transformer cartoons on tv. It was fun then, it's even better now

You
overlook the logical gaps *GASP*?!?
Those are the best parts of movies!!!
How could you possably (SP?) go through an entire movie without figuring out each and every mistake the director missed (or ignored) during the filming?!
I almost told my family that the box folding down from GINORMOUS to itsy-bitsy was impossible. But I actually think that may be possible (geeze, that word again...) if it was hollow inside *shrugs*.
Anyways, good movie, loved it, though my father hates bad plots (I had to listen to him complain about this one...)

LMAO Now I did pick it apart the first time I saw it. I did the "Now when he left his house, it was morning, why is it nighttime now?" or "You'd think they'd have more than a handful of army dudes saving the world." After watching it a few dozen times I went from "Eh, it's not bad" to "LOVE IT"....ahem. Ok I'm good now.
