Little Helms "Tekken" Adaptation
By Garth Franklin

Dwight Little ("Rapid Fire," "Murder at 1600") has been been set to direct "Tekken," a futuristic martial arts actioner based on the bestselling Japanese vidgame from Namco reports Variety.

"The film plays out as a science fiction story set in the near future, about a rebel who rises up against the Tekken Corp. to seize freedom for his people. It's a gladiator story, but the videogame has a complicated enough storyline that it provides the template for a martial arts spectacular" says Little.

Alan McElroy wrote the script. Crystal Sky Pictures is financing the film, which begins production February 4th in Shreveport, Louisiana.

I think this may go the same way as the Mortal Kombat movies and Street Fighter movie.

I don't think it will work but I hope it does.

Exactly. I don't think there is enough of a story to it.

I liked his movie murder at 1600 but he should not try to make this into a film..

Mortal Kombat had potential. The series was good, if only they'd have put some effort into the movies. I believe the key to beat'em up movie would be an anime-style atmosphere, like say naruto.

Oh god. all you have to do is look at Dead or Alive, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, then you'll learn that it can't work.

No they can work, but the reason most don't is because is because they don't follow the game.

Look at street fighter the animated movie - it was f****ing fantastic - and it followed the game (Alpha series more than World Champion series though). Admittedly they then made a complete mess of it in Street Fighter Alpha the movie and Street Fighter Generations, but they were low bubget sequels and so don't count any more than any other good movie than had cheap-cash in sequals.

Ultimately it comes down to the script and the director, some can make them good, some just shouldn't make them.

Now in this particular case it will suck, because they got a crap director and script writter

True I guess but would this work for all Game2movie movies? I mean with syphon filter and MGS and of all things GTA in the works to become movies should they stick to the game? What about the people who have never played? will they understand
