Seven people were injured on Thursday when Greek Orthodox and Armenian priests came to blows in a dispute over how to clean the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
Following the Christmas celebrations, Greek Orthodox priests set up ladders to clean the walls and ceilings of their part of the church, which is built over the site where Jesus Christ is believed to have been born.

But the ladders encroached on space controlled by Armenian priests, according to photographers who said angry words ensued and blows quickly followed.

For a quarter of an hour bearded and robed priests laid into each other with fists, brooms and iron rods while the photographers who had come to take pictures of the annual cleaning ceremony recorded the whole event.

A dozen unarmed Palestinian policemen were sent to try to separate the priests, but two of them were also injured in the unholy melee.

"As usual the cleaning of the church afer Christmas is a cause of problems," Bethlehem Mayor Victor Batarseh told AFP, adding that he has offered to help ease tensions.

"For the two years that I have been here everything went more or less calmly," he said. "It's all finished now."

The Church of the Nativity, like the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem's Old City, is shared by various branches of Christianity, each of which controls and jealously guards a part of the holy site.

The Church of the Nativity is built on the site where Christians believe Jesus was born in a stable more than 2,000 years ago after Mary and Joseph were turned away by an inn.

What?

I am confused, so they are like children? "stay out of my side of the room" kinda thing?

or are they fighting over who believes in Jesus more? Moron's

Mabon
I agree Finsup! They are acting like children. Wonder what they'd say if someone would ask them~"regardless of how your different branches believe you both believe in a higher power, do you think that higher power would approve of you acting like this?"
What a bunch of goobers!
The first rule should have been keep your fingers/hands to yourself! LOL!

MY MY,

I think that celibacy thing is getting to them. If they all got laid they wouldn’t be so aggressive.

Q: What would Jesus do in this situation?

A: Maybe buy them a hooker.

It says something about acting like a child to get back to Heaven, Maybe they are trying to get in Early?

Will that place still be considdered Holy ground when a Bomb levels the Place?

Will those fighting still claim it as Theirs after it's safe to Go again?

Will people flock to the site to be burned by the holy radioactive waste?

Would they say they were fighting over the Holy Hole in the ground?

Is it blood shed which makes it Holy, Or does Going against God's Comandment, killing each other, make it holier than other Holy sites where no blood is alowed?

Just Thinking out loud.
Better get some coffee.

Lifelong celibacy for priests is only for Roman Catholics. Married men can become Orthodox priests. I'd assume the same for the Armenians.

I mean we already get well Christians have been killing in the name of God for 2000 years, just as I wrote in another post, That was long ago and I don't see it Today. These priest need to take a look at whats going on around them and see that they are just causing more harm, Always a pleasure

Then open your eyes: "WONDERFUL EVENTS THAT TESTIFY TO GOD'S DIVINE GLORY"

Look near the bottom of the list.

Then what is the spirit of those orthodox christians?

Could it be that their nuns have so much cancer on their wombs because of their celibacy? Ignorant Druj does not recognize the simple fact that not every woman(or man) is born to celibacy. What a bunch of discriminating morons telling that an unmarried black priest is better than the married white one. Because they seem to be of their father Satan like the pharisees before them, you could be right about Jesus giving them permission to have sex with some prostitutes.

Those with insight does not really care what those Drujs are doing as long it does not harm any among the gnostics. Their souls condition does not neither matter are they lacking spirit.
