Okay, well, first time I made a topic on either account but..

When I was about 11, my friend Monique told me that she had gone over to a sleepover once at her other friend's house (I didn't know this friend very well, so I had never been there), and they all had a competition on who could stay up the latest. At about 2am, Monique and another girl heard the linen press door banging open and closed, the T.V. switching on and off on Mute, and the kitchen lights flickering (they were off originally).
The other girl got so freaked out that she woke up all the other girls, and then the noises stopped.

They all went back to bed and so on.

Then a while later, Monique went over to the girl's house, and while she was waiting for them to answer the door, she heard a sobbing noise coming from underneath the house. She had a look, but couldn't see anything. She thought maybe it was a ghost, and still thinks that the girl's house is haunted.

They moved out and I don't know what happened with the house, but I'm just wondering if anyone's got any ideas or hunches for logical/paranormal explanations?
Belle.
Girls like to scare each other at slumber parties (at least I remember we did!) so they just could have been playing jokes on each other. When you are a kid you haven't normally learnt to look for rational explanations so things don't get explained away properly at the time. Having said that if I heard a ghostly voice moaning under my house I would have FREAKED OUT! ohmy.gif

One of my friends lived in a supposedly haunted house - people had heard cutlery banging downstairs when nobody else was supposed to be home. I used to hate staying the night if the parents weren't home. They also had bad ouija experiences there so who knows?

Mmm, true.
The girl Monique was staying up with (Becky) pretended it was all a joke afterwards, but Monique still sticks to her story - of seeing things and hearing things - probably because she watches too much Charmed. Fierce believer she is, anyway. >_>

Oh, and if it helps, the girl's parents did know about the noises, but blamed it on a draft and faulty electric system.

Maybe the parents had the right idea but parents (like mine) also like to deny anything happening at the time so kids don't get more scared. That is the reasoning anyways laugh.gif Then when everyone is an adult they can be like "Oh yeh we definately thought that place was haunted"

Its hard to say what was going on, but very possible it was paranormal, but too late to find out now, unless you can obtain some information and history of the house..JN

I used to have a TV that would jump ahead 6 channles, back 6 channels, then back up 6 channels to the show you were watching. The sound would go way up , then way down and it would go off and on at will. Do I think it's haunted? Eh could be-- I threw it out-- at the time I was living at home and my moms TV did the same thing... have no idea how to explain that.

Um, anything else ever go wrong in the house? If so can you give us the history? If not, can you give the history of the T.V. to the best of your knowledge?

Sounds like a typical girlie pyjama party!! Scaring the be-jeesus out of each other!!! laugh.gif

And the parents blaming the faulty electrics??? Well - couldn't it be true?? Surely this is a more sensible explanation than a ghost????

It amazes me how much some people really, desperately want to believe in ghosts and convince themselves they've had a 'experience' when in reality - nothing remotely paranormal has happened. If you want to see a ghost - you will!!

Yeah it was odd, I just don't really know if it was haunted or not. The fact that the number 6 was always involved made it spooky, but it could have been random. I do believe in the paranormal but you do have to stop and make sure thats what it is and not some random electric problem. The night before my dad died a power surge knocked out everything in my house for about an hour. I think it was a sign, but what kind I don't know. I'm going to make a post later about my other paranormal event that happened recently..

Called up Monique after JN's post =)
Okay, the list of things that the house did was:
Doors banging
Lights flickering
T.V. changing channels & volume; turning on and off
Switches going up and down without lights turning on
Sobbing under the house

But that's all she remembers.

That doesn't explain the sobbing =P
