Albuquerque, N.M. - A New Mexico family is counting its blessings after it discovered an image of the Virgin Mary on their living room wall.

Donna Quintana said it's a much-needed blessing that appeared right before her family's eyes Christmas Eve. Her husband saw it first.

"He noticed an image there. He said, 'That looks like an image of the Virgin Mary,'" Quintana said.

She said the image appeared during a home construction mishap. Quintana said her husband was putting a special texture on the wall. The spray bottle he was using broke twice, which meant the texture couldn't be wiped off fast enough. This is how it dried.

"I feel like it's telling us something, like it's protecting us," Quintana said. "It's like a miracle."

Lets see...they can do either of two things...stop hitting the bottle on Christmas eve, or cut out that part of the wall, sell it on EBay, and their problems for 2008 will be over.......The only likeness I can see is the shroud that she's wearing...

LOL, yeah, really, someone would buy it! In my room when I was a teen, there had been a leak in the ceiling and there was a watermark on the tiles in the shape of an old man. you could see his eyes, nose, mouth, beard and long flowing hair. I didn't take as a religious personage, just a cool fluke.

You don't see Jewish people saying they see Moses on something.
You don't see Muslims saying that they see Allah on something.

It's an interesting point. I remember not long ago there was a photo here on UM that was taken in a predominantly buddhist area, whereby sunlight on a mountain created the shape of, apparently, buddha. If it had happened in a predominantly Christian area, then obviously that would have been interpreted as something else, Jesus or Mary.
