Mesa, Ariz. - Fire officials say a Cave Creek man who was trying to ride his pet buffalo was mauled by the animal after it bucked him off. The man, 75, was flown to a Scottsdale hospital.

John Kraetz, a district chief for the fire department, said the unidentified man suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The man owned two of the animals. Kraetz said he's never been on a similar call.

"People do have buffalo on their property, but it's pretty darn uncommon," he said.

Pet or no pet, a 75 year old man shouldn,t be riding a buffulo period! Good grief what was he trying to prove?

what was he thinking, riding a buffalo at his age.

I'm sure he was just trying to impress his sixty year old girlfriend and gotten a little out of hand.

seriously, what did the guy think would happen? the buffalo would trot through town while he waved his hat at people and handed out balloons to small children? pet or not, you hop on a buffalo, then be prepared to get your butt kicked.

Buffalo don't like to be ridden.
