Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - A Saudi husband said he witnessed his wife receive a slip of paper from a young man after he had separated from her and the couple's three children to shop at different stores.

He confronted his wife about the exchange and demanded to see the paper, which she refused. He grabbed her purse by force and saw the paper with the man's number written on it.

The husband then approached a cashier and asked to use the microphone.

"To all those present and all the shoppers. Please listen to me. I want you to bear witness to what I say," the man said. He announced he was divorcing his wife irreversibly and they are barred from reconciliation by Islamic law.

The man then drove away from the mall, leaving his wife and children behind.

Why did he abandon his children.

yeah if he is mad at his wife that is fine but leaving his children behind is idiotic.

But maybe she was planning on getting him this really special gift, and this guy gave her the number to call because she could get a good discount on it.....So now the guy is out of a wife, kids and a special gift....I'd love to hear what her explanation was, if she ever got to tell him

Can't believe him, no trust in his wife at all. When couple have a problems they talk about it, not abandon the poor person! IF her intentions were not to even have an affair, I'm glad he left because now she's not married to a paranoid goofball

I'm thinking this can go three ways:

1. He's a control freak or his jealousy blinded him. Insecure individuals tend to have very low self esteem and over- react when it's nothing.
2. She really planned on having an extramarital affair and was caught in the act.
3. She wanted rid of him, and set the whole thing up, knowing he would react this way.

Either way, it ended as it should. This wouldn't have worked anyway.

I agree, poor children...BUT, was she really handed a note? Or did this guy plan this all out to get rid of them so that he could go on with his life? We only have his word that there was even a note.

He said he saw it, did others? Were there witnesses to the paper?

She got off pretty easily me thinks... The koran (which they follow over there) says a man can beat the living hell out of a woman for being un-islamic (which also includes serving man and being a good muslim).

Over there though men don't even need a reason to divorce their wifes. Just has to say it three times and he's out of it.

You know...this sounds like there were problems before they went to the mall.

I'm guessing she's been ****ing around behind his back, he found out, they sorted out their issues, continued on with their marriage...I guess her latest attempt was the icing on the cake. He over-reacted and drove off.

PS. it's not completely out of the ordinary for muslim men to not be barbarians.
