as for god, if there is a god i believe he'll have nothing to do with our demise. he is beyond us and couldn't be bothered to kill us all, leave it to ourselves,

I have to agree, I'm willing to entertain the idea that alien species do exist who have evolved into Q-like beings (I doubt it though) however if such species do exist we are to inferior for them to take any interest in.

Aaah. I haven't posted in forever! I've been organizing, getting new computers and such. But either way, I'll try and stay updated now that I am back on line!

Great points everybody, but I just don't know what to beleive. I mean, the end of the world is a scary thing to think about, but what if the end of the world is really at the hands of God? Why would he create us for such a short time? But ah you know, sometimes I wish that maybe the world should end. I have a curious mind and would really like to see what is on the other side, if there is one. But if there isn't and religion is a man-based thing created so that he has something to lean on in times of trouble, that sucks. So in a way, I am looking forward to and dreading 2012.

bye!

I'd completely forgotten about that...I'd already put it on the pile with all the four hundred other false doomsday predictions that have come and gone throughout history huh.gif

OK.. Good news for everybody!! original.gif

We have some chance to be hit by a giant meteor every single day. Our system is not enough to monitor the movement of all meteors in the sky. In fact we has been almost hit several times, with the meteor found just after it crossed our orbit. Maybe the most disturbing incident is the one in Russia a few years ago when a giant meteor crossed the earth atmosphere. Unfortunately it didn't really hit the ground, and we are stuck here in this life.
Joe013
I think people misinterpreted my saying "I wish the world would end". I did not mean as in, "Oh I hate life and I wish I was dead". I meant it as in, "Whats on the 'other side'?" But thanks for the replies. Does anyone have a link on armageddon and what is supposed to happen? I have looked for information but I feel much of is it is biased, as it is mostly from (no offense) Christian sites. Thanks!

I don't think athiest have armagedeon sites as we all seem to believe end of world's in 10 billion years time. Some Islamic girl posted something recently about the word ending soon and the signs.

Other than that I just know the christian stuff sorry

Are they going to show another program about htis and show it past 23:00 so the believers can't watch it,because they're to busy getting ready, just like that French Guy's prediction. sad.gif

It seems like a lot of people are convinced we are going to destroy ourselves. I tend to think not lately. We are an extremely resilient race of beings. We have gotten to this point by fighting for it. Our sheer will to survive is absolutely amasing. I mean generally when there is a major threat to the majority of us, we have a tendency to group together and kick a$$. Much like WW2. Besides, if we were going to destroy ourselves I think we would have done it already. It would have happened during the Cold War. No one pushed the big red button because we know that if we did, we would destroy ourselves, and no body really wants that. Well maybe a few crazy nuts do, but the majority aren't going to let that happen. I wouldn't. I love humans too much, they provide a lifetime of entertainment. w00t.gif I'm not saying it won't happen, it's always a possibility, but I don't think it is likely.
Diebytheflyguy
If anything humans will destroy the earth before any natural disasters occur.
YEA WHOOOOOHOOO GO HUMANS..YEA!....YEA, KICK ASS!

It's interesting to hear all these predictions of rapture and whatever else.

Most of these 'prophecies' are comprised of random word play or complex crazed number juggling and you end up with a doomsday. i.e 666+666+666 = 1998 (end of the world)

They make for very good reading, but naturally humans are curious about what we dont know, and we strive to find out things that we cannot know. I like reading about them just to see how a person saw how the world would end. But it is a calculation no one can know.

The world will end when our sun goes supernova. That is a widely approved science fact. No one likes to blame themselves.. so we make up someone to blame.

Diebytheflyguy
The sun will go before anything else.
swj20
My opinion is the human race is NOT doomed.

They are now as eternal as the most advanced control over
biologic organization allows.

That methodology is under the purview of beings you may never know.

But, your ancestors have been given a new birthright.

Part of you will live as live long as it is possible for you to conceive of.
cerberus
It's interesting also, that no doomsday predictions where made for Sept 11th 2001.

Every other day it seems we would face total armageddon, except the day when doomsday seemed real.

I found this TEXT site last night and it mentions two numbers as being the basis of the universe, 666 and 704. Link

Doing the same mathimatical calculation with 704 you come up with 2112.

Regardless of numbers. And this is only my opinion. The planet as a rock will survive for millions years after we are gone. Humans as we are known now will more than likely do one of two things.

1. Evolve beyond our current status and form.

2. Through war, illness and other natural disasters, we as a species will be wiped out. This is also a form of evolution.

I consider myself a Christian, but I also know that man will do everything to prove God has no control over the planet. "He didn't destroy it we did." So there must be no God.

All living things have a finite amount of time on the planet. If we went into another ice age, a masssive number of people will die. Ice ages are a natural occurrence, just as global warming is a natural occurrence. Many extinct animals and plants had nothing to do with man, but with nature.

The sky may be already falling, but I don't think any of us will be around to see the crash.
Grey_Wolf
well me thinks the we are at the 4th dimension of the world comming to a end wich sorta means thats we only have a 5th one left, weather this be a 100 years to a billion years i dont know, but what i belive is that the only time that the planet will be comming to a end is when there is atleast over 10, 000 ppl dieing a day with war or natural disasters ect ect...

so i guess just repent your sins, and if u do not belive in god then by all means find other ways to create happiness and do good deeds,

maybe i shall see some of you in the after life, be ith up there or down below original.gif
Grey_Wolf
You guyz might find this interesting, (mind you i do not read arabic text this is in english) the koran states that first sign is that over a 1000 ppl will die a day wich is already happening either with war or famine,
and it is belived that JESUS will come down from the heavens to jeruselam and will tel everyone he is jesus and to repent sins cause the end of the world is comming... most ppl will say he is just a hoax and not belive him so there will be a big war within good and evil, after 40 years the sun will rise from the eat and jugment day will proclaimed, in wich that day everyone would be running for there life and will not even recognise there mom.

Seeing this holy day i belive will show humans can change in just a click of a finger,
and also shows that this is the most writings of jugment day in all religions,

but ofcoarse everyone has there own veiws like the one i posted b4 this post...

but as time will tell , wether being now or a 100 years from now, it will be a day that none of us will see...

original.gif
cerberus
I cannot believe that Jesus will appear from the sky. It makes no sense to me.

What will happen is that we will kill ourselves off.

As for 1000 ppl dying a day. our population grows more and more, and i would say it would now be more like 1 million ppl.

Religion has been the cause of the majority of wars we have had. In my belief no religion is any better than any other. It's just a way of life. They all work, and some evidence suggests than many are derived from other religions anyway.. like a breakaway religion.

What will kill us all is when we get so paranoid about who is the best, that we will kill each other out of fear and spite.

Joe013
I dunno...I kind of belevie in the apocalypse theory, but I don't know. I haven't done enough research on stuff to biased one way or another. But either way, we're going down haha. whistling2.gif

2112, its a Rush song...

I lie awake, staring out at the bleakness of Megadon. City and sky become one, merging into a single plane, a vast sea of unbroken grey. The Twin Moons, just two pale orbs as they trace their way across the steely sky. I used to think I had a pretty good life here, just plugging into my machine for the day, then watching Templevision or reading a Temple Paper in the evening.
My friend Jon always said it was nicer here than under the atmospheric domes of the Outer Planets. We have had peace since 2062, when the surviving planets were banded together under the Red Star of the Solar Federation. The less fortunate gave us a few new moons.
I believed what I was told. I thought it was a good life, I thought I was happy. Then I found something that changed it all...
I. Overture
And the meek shall inherit the earth...
II. Temples of Syrinx
... The massive grey walls of the Temples rise from the heart of every Federation city. I have always been awed by them, to think that every single facet of every life is regulated and directed from within! Our books, our music, our work and play are all looked after by the benevolent wisdom of the priests...
We've taken care of everything
The words you hear, the songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure to your eyes.
It's one for all and all for one
We work together, common sons
Never need to wonder how or why.
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls.
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls.
Look around at this world we've made
Equality our stock in trade
Come and join the Brotherhood of Man
Oh, what a nice, contented world
Let the banners be unfurled
Hold the Red Star proudly high in hand.
We are the Priests of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers fill the hallowed halls.
We are the Priests, of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life are held within our walls.
III. Discovery
... Behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, I found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in my hands. I had no idea what it might be, but it was beautiful ...
... I learned to lay my fingers across the wires, and to turn the keys to make them sound differently. As I struck the wires with my other hand, I produced my first harmonious sounds, and soon my own music! How different it could be from the music of the Temples! I can't wait to tell the priests about it! ...
What can this strange device be?
When I touch it, it gives forth a sound
It's got wires that vibrate and give music
What can this thing be that I found?
See how it sings like a sad heart
And joyously screams out its pain
Sounds that build high like a mountain
Or notes that fall gently like rain.
I can't wait to share this new wonder
The people will all see its light
Let them all make their own music
The Priests praise my name on this night.
IV. Presentation
... In the sudden silence as I finished playing, I looked up to a circle of grim, expressionless faces. Father Brown rose to his feet, and his somnolent voice echoed throughout the silent Temple Hall. ...
... Instead of the grateful joy that I expected, they were words of quiet rejection! Instead of praise, sullen dismissal. I watched in shock and horror as Father Brown ground my precious instrument to splinters beneath his feet...
I know it's most unusual
To come before you so
But I've found an ancient miracle
I thought that you should know
Listen to my music
And hear what it can do
There's something here as strong as life
I know that it will reach you.
Yes, we know, it's nothing new
It's just a waste of time
We have no need for ancient ways
The world is doing fine
Another toy will help destroy
The elder race of man
Forget about your silly whim
It doesn't fit the plan.
I can't believe you're saying
These things just can't be true
Our world could use this beauty
Just think what we might do.
Listen to my music
And hear what it can do
There's something here as strong as life
I know that it will reach you.
Don't annoy us further!
We have our work to do.
Just think about the average
What use have they for you?
Another toy will help destroy
The elder race of man
Forget about your silly whim
It doesn't fit the Plan!
V. Oracle: The Dream
... I guess it was a dream, but even now it all seems so vivid to me. Clearly yet I see the beckoning hand of the oracle as he stood at the summit of the staircase ...
... I see still the incredible beauty of the sculptured cities and the pure spirit of man revealed in the lives and works of this world. I was overwhelmed by both wonder and understanding as I saw a completely different way to life, a way that had been crushed by the Federation long ago. I saw now how meaningless life had become with the loss of all these things ...
I wandered home though the silent streets
And fell into a fitful sleep
Escape to realms beyond the night
Dream can't you show me the light?
I stand atop a spiral stair
An oracle confronts me there
He leads me on light years away
Through astral nights, galactic days
I see the works of gifted hands
That grace this strange and wondrous land
I see the hand of man arise
With hungry mind and open eyes
They left the planet long ago
The elder race still learn and grow
Their power grows with purpose strong
To claim the home where they belong
Home to tear the Temples down...
Home to change!
VI. Soliloquy
... I have not left this cave for days now, it has become my last refuge in my total despair. I have only the music of the waterfall to comfort me now. I can no longer live under the control of the Federation, but there is no other place to go. My last hope is that with my death I may pass into the world of my dream, and know peace at last.
The sleep is still in my eyes
The dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh and sadly smile
And lie a while in bed
I wish that it might come to pass
Not fade like all my dreams...
Just think of what my life might be
In a world like I have seen!
I don't think I can carry on
Carry on this cold and empty life
My spirits are low in the depths of despair
My lifeblood...
...spills over...
VII. The Grand Finale
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation
We have assumed control.
We have assumed control.
We have assumed control.

DOES IT MEAN SOMETHING? IM... NOT SURE...
Gazz
Are we playing name that tune now? wink2.gif

"War, good god yall', what is it good for"

"Stop, hey what's that sound everyone
look what's going down"

"this is the end, my friend, the end"

These songs from the 60's seem relevant
again today for some reason.

hmmmm .. wonder why?

Nostradamus had several points worth constantly reexamining year to year, I believe.

He spoke of a third World War - We're already fighting a war of this magnitude against terrorism.

He spoke of a second coming of Christ -- If you believe the standards of today, popularity is dictated by monies gained and the number of people knowing of you.
Using that port of vision, one could say that PASSION OF THE CHRIST might be that Second coming of sorts. blink.gif

He spoke of being aware and of being wary of a man that would wear a light blue beret. Okay - What people are missing it that this was one of the signs regarding the changes foretold. Without freaking anyone out, we're at war, right? Well... think what you like, but its a world War... making it our 3rd. w00t.gif

Gibson's movie is the signifying sign of a Second Coming upon Mankind. I'm not necessarily saying it is the second coming, but it certainly places Jesus, the Christ in high places ... where people react honestly, and cling ever closer to their faith. It (the film) has actually brought people back to church and faith. thumbsup.gif

Lastly, the War we fight is terror drive. The country and murderous dictator of Libya is a wolf in sheep's cloth, who wears a blue beret, and if our government isn't careful it will get into a situation with this man and he will destroy a very large number of Americans via the help of his radical anti-Christian muslims. dontgetit.gif

Hunger and stavation because of lost employment come next. Then the nukes began by our enemy. People will turn to cannibalism to survive. Pockets of people that prepaed and had sense to hide out will emerge and peace will reign for a time, because differing certain cultures were not intended to co-exist in America. And, lastly -- America won't be "America" anymore. The survivors will call it something else. crying.gif

Oh, and I will see it end. I will, because I am immortal. cool.gif
Dark Fire
According to researchers, "the end of days" is supposed to be a time where a major change in this world occurs, they suggest it could be bad or good.
While reading the last part of the bible (Revelation), after all the chaos and suffering, there will be some utopian world where there will be no evil. I think it's
talking about ours.

heh, if you think i'm getting worked up about it, you're mistaken. i really don't care much if the world will end or not. i just feel a certainty inside that it will end sometime soon. by soon, i don't mean weeks, months, or even years, cause i don't know when. just in my lifetime grin2.gif

And I don't think we should really think about the end of the world- I believe that there is nothing we can do to prevent it, and after that it's the Day of Judgement when God decides who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell....no point in getting all scared and worked up about something we can't help.

That kind of attitude is counter productive. If it says Roman Empire, take it as the Roman Empire. The EU is not the new roman empire. Some of you people would say that any step towards a one world goverment is doomed to failure because "It's the revived roman empire!"
I see no reason to change the meaning of anything to make it seem right. If the anti christ isnt born in the EU or the EU falls before one is born, you people would just say "Oops, we made a mistake, I guess the EU wasnt the revived Roman Empire. Here's a list of End of The World Prophecies that just didn't come true.

The List is from this site, it has the full list starting in 30ce.....I'm just going to list the ones since I was born there's references on the site as well. http://www.religioustolerance.org/end_wrl2.htm

1974: Charles Meade, a pastor in Daleville, IN, predicted that the end of the world will happen during his lifetime. He was born circa 1927, so the end will probably come early in the 21st century.

1975: A major Jehovah's Witness prediction date.

1978: Chuck Smith, Pastor of Calvary Chapel in Cost Mesa, CA, predicted the rapture in 1981.

1980: Leland Jensen leader of a Baha'i World Faith group, predicted that a nuclear disaster would happen in 1980. This would be followed by two decades of conflict, ending in the establishment of God's Kingdom on earth.

1981: Teleminister Arnold Murray taught an anti-Trinitarian belief about God, and Christian Identity. Back in the 1970's, he predicted that the Antichrist would appear before 1981.
Rev. Sun Myung Moon, founder of the Unification Church predicted that the Kingdom of Heaven would be established in this year.

1982: Pat Robertson predicted a few years previously that the world would end in the fall of 1982.

1982: Astronomers John Gribben & Setphen Plagemann predicted the "Jupiter Effect" in 1974. They wrote that when various planets were aligned on the same side of the sun, tidal forces would create solar flares, radio interruptions, rainfall and temperature disturbances and massive earthquakes. The planets did align, as seen from earth, but nothing unusual happened.

1984 to 1999: In 1983, Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, later called Osho, teacher of what has been called the Rajneesh movement, is said to have predicted massive destruction on earth, including natural disasters and man-made catastrophes. Floods larger than any since Noah, extreme earthquakes, very destructive volcano eruptions, nuclear wars etc. will be experienced. Tokyo, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Bombay will all disappear. Actually, the predictions were read by his secretary; their legitimacy is doubtful.

1986: Moses David of The Children of God faith group predicted that the Battle of Armageddon would take place in 1986. Russia would defeat Israel and the United States. A worldwide Communist dictatorship would be established. In 1993, Christ would return to earth.

1987 to 2000: Lester Sumrall, in his 1987 book "I Predict 2000 AD" predicted that Jerusalem would be the richest city on Earth, that the Common Market would rule Europe, and that there would be a nuclear war involving Russia and perhaps the U.S. Also, he prophesized that the greatest Christian revival in the history of the church would happen: all during the last 13 years of the 20th century. All of the predictions failed.

1988: Hal Lindsey had predicted in his book "The Late, Great Planet Earth" that the Rapture was coming in 1988 - one generation or 40 years after the creation of the state of Israel. This failed prophecy did not appear to damage his reputation. He continues to write books of prophecy which sell very well indeed.
Alfred Schmielewsky, a psychic whose stage name was "super-psychic A.S. Narayana," predicted in 1986 that the world's greatest natural disaster would hit Montreal in 1988. Sadly, his psychic abilities failed him on 1999-APR-11 when he answered the door of his home only to be shot dead by a gunman.

1988-MAY: A 1981 movie titled "The man who saw tomorrow" described some of Nostradamus predictions. Massive earthquakes were predicted for San Francisco and Los Angeles.

1988-OCT-11: Edgar Whisenaut, a NASA scientist, had published the book "88 Reasons why the Rapture will Occur in 1988." It sold over 4 million copies.

About 1990: Peter Ruckman concluded from his analysis of the Bible that the rapture would come within a few years of 1990.
