Since I like so many (so many) different kinds of music, I'm going to stick to the more conventional category of "bands" an artists (which include those credited for the music as a whole or that use studio bands), leaving out all other genres/musical formats I enjoy. I also decided to only list the bands that I have more than a few CD's of or whose entire catalog I own (or own the majority of), or whose CD's I pour milk over in the morning.

Elijah's Mantle-------DEVO-------Wall of Voodoo-------Stan Rigeway

My all time favorite band is My Chemical Romance. There's just nothing I can say about that band. They constantly leave me in awe.

It'll probably make me sound like a silly Gerard Way fangirl, but right now I'm also really into Mindless Self Indulgence. I only heard about them last year, and only really listented to thier music when they supported MCR. I thought I was going to hate them, I ended up loving them.

I also love Rise Against.

Gosh, I remember that band! They were HUGE over here a few years ago when they released their record, especially with the indie-pop MTV2 type music fans. Their CD rarely left my player! They're a great band I agree, they've actually brought back some originalty to British "indie" music. (bands like The Kaiser Cheifs, etc have really ruined that scene for me) I'll have to try and find their record again in the never-ending black hole that is my CD cuboard...

Speaking of favorite newish bands, I'm currenty in love with a band called LostAlone. They are going to be huge, mark my words - They've already made quite a name for themselves, having supported bands like MCR, Paramore, and 30STM - And Bruce Dickinson listed their song "Blood Is Sharp" as one of his favorite singles of last year. They're a fairly local band for me too, and I'm going to see them at a one-off hometown show before they go off to record their second record, and I'm SO excited. Something tells this is going to be their last ever really small show, because I have no doubt that their next record is going to rocket them straight to super-stardom. They are AMAZING.

Probably not a "few" years ago, but more like a year ago... they only have one album out (and an EP I think) and were only discovered about 18 to 24 months ago after playing 8 live gigs in their hometown.

For all intents and purpose, they're awfully new on the scene, but I'm eagerly awaiting to hear what they come up with next. This is one of the VERY FEW bands I've heard in in the last 15 years that actually has a new and interesting sound. They are pure unadulterated fun, rowdy, and musically talented. Their album Costello Music is SO rare in that every single last song on the album is terrific. (and they sound great live too)

Yeah, it was probably about 18 months ago I was listening to them (I'm pretty sure Costello Music was released in 2006?) but you know, to my 14 year old self 18 months feels like a long time. tongue.gif I can remember when I started going to going to gigs, my dad said he wouldn't mind going to see them, but all of their shows nearby were sold out.

I havn't heard their EP, but yeah, I agree, Costello Music is a great record, and it got them a lot of attention straight away (Over here in England anyway).

- Dropkick Murphys

Ooooo... Pinky got another one of my all time favorites... The B52's...

What a band they are. They didn't copy anyone's sound or style, and I'm fairly certain no one has copied their style since. LOL. They do amazing harmonies, creative lyrics, surprisingly cool guitars, and they do synthesizers really well. Not too mention, they're SO much fun live.

I can't hear the B52's without dancing in my chair! LOL.
