I thought I would share this story since it does have stuff to do with Ghosts, Hauntings, and The Paranormal.

When I was a freshman at Purdue University last year, a fellow freshman by the name of Wade Steffey went missing one night after a frat party. The campus police were called after about three or so days, when the Wade's roommate reported his unusually long absence. In short, police were involved, and soon enough, the missing student made headlines in the school newspaper as well as the whole state of Indiana being involved. They searched everywhere on campus and found his cell phone near the bell tower, but no Wade. At this point, people were already assuming foul play.

Three months later, a student at one of the residence halls is walking through the halls to to his laundry. I forget the details but I think one of the maintenance closets opens and a blackened, charred body falls out in front of him. Wade Steffey was found in an electric closet and according to investigators, was trying to find a light switch to find his way out, and ended up with the fatal mistake of touching one of the electrical wires. Police are called and about a week they confirm that it is the body of Wade Steffey, although reports claim that "the body was electrocuted beyond identification--you couldn't even tell what the gender was". They found his body slumped in the corner.

This genuinely freaked me out. I know exactly where it happened and every time I walk by the utility closet where he was electrocuted, this strange feeling of anxiety and depression just rushes over me--no joke.

At any rate, I thought I'd share. Feel free to get the better details at this site:

According to your link, a maintenance worker found him after another employee reported "popping" noises coming from the room, not a student walking down the hall being startled by a burnt corpse bursting from a doorway. wink2.gif
I remember this story and it is very sad. He was a beautiful young man and I hope his family is finding a way to cope with such a great loss.
I can understand the anxiety and feeling of depression that happens, anytime someone enters a place where something this tragic happens. People are reminded of their mortality and the ease at which they could simply cease to exist in this world.

You know, the stories actually vary from site to site. In the school newspaper, it was actually a student who discovered the body, and according to the site, it's a utility worker. Either way, the story is creeeeeeepy.

Definitely creepy and sad.

I thought you were saying that you were there on campus, so I thought you would know the real story.
I wonder why there wasn't a search of the buildings after he disappeared?

Oh I hope I didn't make it out to seem that I knew the whole thing, I was just as puzzled as every other student during the time.

That would be creepy having to go by there all the time knowing what had so recently happened there. It's weird, this happens in what seems like a high traffic area and nobody noticed a... erm.. smell? At least they found him and his family has some sort of closure.

LOL No you didn't. My misunderstanding.
But, since you were there during that time, do you know why there wasn't a complete search of the buildings? I'm really interested in, why it took them two months to find his body?
Daniella2310
Wait, but why would he enter that closet, to begin with?

Thats really sad to hear..
Your feelings when you pass are, I would think, completely natural.

And I guess he went into the closet because he was drunk?

My emphasis. Must have been dark in the hall and he grabbed a wire. Bad place to have exposed wires. mellow.gif

I am familiar with the story and remember that they actually did look into the closet (more like a room actually) during the search. However, the body was hidden behind an obstruction - panels or something, so it wasn't seen. The original searcher didn't go in any further to look because, well, he didn't want to be electrocuted when he saw the exposed wires and warning signs... Months later, a utility worker more familiar with the safety issues, went in far enough to see it.

In reply to the Paranormal question , its probably just your feelings coming over you like the others said , now if you get the feeling of uncontrolable fear and anxiety that could be Paranormal , but what your desciribing just sounds normal .

Just re-read the post and you did say Anxiety and depression , COULD BE ! I'm sure he didnt pass when he wanted or the way he wanted ( ODVIOUSLY) so its possible you are picking up the energy he left behind . Depressed feelings are alot of times linked to areas where unexpected deaths occur . If you can talk to others who pass that area and see if they get those feelings also , if they do - thumbsup.gif
