There has to be a reason why the number 6 is associated with carrots.

Carrot sticks is a possibility MC. At the moment I can't think of anything else about carrots and the number 6 that vaguely resemble each other. :s6

Has this experiment been tried using another number besides 6? If so, and the results were the same, then there would be no direct association between carrots and the number 6, but perhaps an association between carrots and math/addition or thinking quickly.

Obviously if this experiment has been tried with various numbers with multiple results, then it would seem there is a direct association between carrots and the number 6

I've heard that it has more to do with the association between 6 and the colour orange - therefore carrot. I don't know whether ths is true or not.

it may be that there is no connection between the number 6 and carrot, it's just a mantra to clear your mind. once cleared is it possible the fist veg you'd think of is carrot? I think this is more likely. Carrots are possiblely the most media represented vegatable (Bugs bunny) and has a distinctive shape and is definately strongly associated with a colour. In most situations if you think of vegatables, carrots would appear in your mind's eye.

My friend made me do this one before and the first thing that popped into my mind was brocoli.  :P

Ok then here is the reason why everyone (nearly) says carrot to the number 6 being said over and over really fast:

if you say it fast enough over and over, it begins to sound like sex, (subconsiously)  this in turn makes you think of the penis, and so you say carrot, because the shape is the same.

...and those with dirty minds...

Now I look really stupid

(and I thought of carrot, I'm going to lie down for a while...)

I done this at school, but the number 6 never came into it, Its a spontaneous thing.

If I remeber correctly , Your brain stores stuff the way you are taught A-Z 1,2,3 Etc.

So your asked a serious of simple questions that makes you use your brain in that way , then asked name the first vegtable that enters your mind 9/10 will say carrot ,

A) becasue its first in the Alphabet (I know egg plant aubergines etc are before)

Carrots are used by the brain much more in life so sticks out more than Aubergines etc.

Try asking friends , name the first Vegtable that enters your mind wothout the sums and see what they say.

Note if they have heard this before they may pause, Then there cheating !!
