I have heard rumors of a nightmarish form of christianity called the westboro baptist church. this is not an ordinary baptist church, this is an entire family, formed into a cult. Never in my life, have i been so repulsed by things such as this. i will include a few links to some images and a video, but before people start stereotyping all of the people who are christians, let me explain after i post the links.

NOW LISTEN FOLKS

these people do not only judge gays and the country itself, but these people also bash other christian religons.

I want people to know, these are not real christians. this is a cult, a nightmarish view of christianity. People have always used these monsters as an "example" of christianity. do not listen to them. I know i am not suppose to judge, and i know i am not suppose to say who is going to go to hell and who isn't, but out of my pure and honest opinion, if the the westboro baptist church keeps doing crap like this, they may find themselves ending up in hell.

I am asking everyone nicely, please do not see these people as examples of christians, because if you do, you're far off the mark.

Don't they have to pay a 10 million in fines now ? clap.gif

I can guarentee that a vast majority of people haven't heard of WBC... everyone on UM knows who they are because there have been dozens of threads on the subject.

I'd probably do more scrutinizing of Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, and Oral Roberts. They're FAR more recognizable and well known. I'd say these yahoos are probably more responsible than WBC.

I agree. While WBC is a bunch of nutters. Most people know they are who have an idea of who they are. But as MW points out Pat Robertson and the like that have a much broader reach and are by far more dangerous.

Marion Gordon "Pat" Robertson (born March 22, 1930)[1] is a televangelist from the United States.[2] He is the founder of numerous organizations and corporations, including the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), the Christian Coalition, Flying Hospital, International Family Entertainment, Operation Blessing International Relief and Development Corporation, and Regent University.[1][3] He is the host of The 700 Club, a Christian TV program airing on channels throughout the United States and on CBN affiliates worldwide.[1]

He is opposed to abortion and same-sex marriage.[4][5] Robertson is a supporter of the Republican Party and campaigned unsuccessfully to become the party's nominee in the 1988 presidential election.[6]

is it the same sex merriage and abortion protesting that makes him a bad person?

He's a "false prophet "

2007 terror attack

On the January 2, 2007 broadcast of The 700 Club, Robertson said that God spoke to him and told him that "mass killings" were to come during 2007, due to a terrorist attack on the United States. He added "The Lord didn't say nuclear. But I do believe it will be something like that."[80] No terrorist attacks against the United States in general, or its interests, ever occurred in 2007.

2006 Pacific Northwestern tsunami

In May 2006, Robertson declared that storms and possibly a tsunami would hit America's coastline sometime in 2006. Robertson supposedly received this revelation from God during an annual personal prayer retreat in January. The claim was repeated four times on The 700 Club.

On May 8, 2006 Robertson said, "If I heard the Lord right about 2006, the coasts of America will be lashed by storms." On May 17, 2006 he elaborated, "There well may be something as bad as a tsunami in the Pacific Northwest."[81] While this claim didn't garner the same level of controversy as some of his other statements, it was generally received with mild amusement by the Pacific Northwest media. It should also be noted that the History Channel's initial airing of its new series, Mega Disasters: West Coast Tsunami, was broadcast the first week of May.

It is worth noting that, while a tsunami obviously did not affect the United States, no hurricanes reached United States soil that year, and the 2006 Hurricane Season was actually far tamer than the extremely active and dangerous 2005 Hurricane Season.

It's a part of mainstream Drujish orthodox christianity! Then no wonder why some considered that Phelps to be a christian version of Osama Bin Laden.

We gnostics do not hate anyone, may the Good Father take care of that. But we are against male homosexuality as we are against any sexual acts that are not for procreation. In our holy canonical law Vendidad it is said that homo-bisexual men are the prides of Daevas.

Ahura Mazda answered: The man that lies with mankind as man lies with womankind, or as woman lies with mankind, is the man that is a Daeva; this one is the man that is a worshipper of the Daevas, that is a wife to the Daeva; this is the man that is as bad as a Daeva, that is in all being a Daeva; this is the man that is a Daeva before he dies, and becomes one of the unseen Daevas after death: so is he, whetever he has lain with mankind, or as womankind.

Yes, and being a Daeva won't make you "Allmighty" because of you have been in sexual intercourse with one. Yes, with Daevas like Shiva, Baal, Apollo and so on during the history. All Daevas will perish like vulcanoes, they will be burnt to the crisps by their own wickedness and finally cease to exist so that they ever was in the past.

Ahura Mazda is the same as Lord Sabaoth who did find insight and is not to be messed up with Yahweh even if he was the son of that Demiurg or with the Good Father even if he indeed is the servant of our beloved Daughter in the light.

i certainly hope no one would mix up the westboro baptist church with mainstream christianity, whatever your opinion is of christianity. fred phelps and his little cult (most of the members are his family members) are morally reprehensible at best. the religious logic of fred phelps goes something like this: if something bad happens to you its because god hates you and if you say anything i disagree with god hates you and if you dont like me god hates you and if you are a member of any of the various communitys (gays, catholics, swedes, irish, blacks, hispanics, asians, whatever) that go against "gods" word, then, by the logic of fred phelps, god hates you. by fred phelps logic, if something terrible happened to him that would mean god hates him. i wonder how he would handle that, if something bad happened to him.

When someone specifically points out dislike for male homosexuality, you know it's either a guy, or a straight girl that can't get a date. wink2.gif

I know of several people who can find plenty of things in the Bible that rival a cult... But they can't get these things into context, and ultimately fail to convince me.

One of my friends is an athiest, and if the subject comes up, he can smash all my arguments with his own, but he stands by "Prove that it can't be disproven" as a good philosophy for all dieties in general...
Oh well...
I still beleive in God, as a Christian, and respect his decision to completely reject any faith.
He even argues that science is about theories, and that gravity still hasn't been proven, but will stay a fact of science until disproven...

Still, massive cults may happen sometimes, but seeing as everyone (in general) disagrees and avoids them, nobody can actually say "Thats a Christian, so all of them are like that."

*Shrugs* They're just messed up...
Watchful
What really concerns me about that cult, is the children in it. I remember seeing a newscast, where they were interviewing the daughter of Phelps, and her educating her many children in the hatred of soldiers and America. I almost see this as child abuse. These poor kids, I feel they need to be taken away from this. This is where these cults become long term, because of the brainwashing of their impressionable young.

They give Christians a bad name, kind of like the KKK. I pity these people, because they don't know what love is. Hate will consume them and their souls will be dry as dust.

I think thats what they thrive on darkwind, The hate. There certainly can't be any love or forgiveness involved. I don't see how they can condemn the very people who are risking their lives for them. those who are bred from hate cannot gain accomplishment in life. these monsterous parents all deserve to get their house burned down for breeding hate like this. I may not agree or support homosexuality, but i dont believe at all that god hates them or that they deserve to die. and these people who are running this cult hate jews. No I don't!

This is only a myth made by some occult politics which has nothing in common with reality. Ever heard of freemasons? Why are there so little amount of workers in our western world? Answer: They have been killed by abortion with beginning from the end of the 1960's. That's why there are 500000 workers missing in a small country like Finland. That's why there aren't no one to take care of all those retired. That's why all western countries considered euthanasia as being a solution to that problem and that's why we are needing plenty of imigrants elsewere to get some additional workers. I'm not against imigration if they are fugitives or honorable workers but strongly against both abortion and euthanasia.

However, the idea of exogamy never did work out! While lesbianism by parthenogenesis and incest are both procreative, yes like divine reunion with the original womb status, so aren't the case with male homo-bisexuality or with any other anal or oral intercourse which we gnostics considered to be immoralic. May the Good Father take care of that the todays heterozygotic system will be replaced by the homozygotic alternative of the gnostics. Any homozygotic society, even if being small, has in fact allways took care of their elderly members in good manner.

I was being ironic ya know. wink2.gif

I don't care how many workers are missing in Sweden,we are overpoulated ! And besides it's all about distribution. (as in people)

I know you guys are empty up there but you also have a fondness for birth-control (don't blame it all on abortion-or do you see birth control as abortion too ?)

Germany is overcrowded here and they need jobs, so why don't you guys import some of us up there to work for ya ?

We are good little worker bees. Haven't you heard ?

WHat if the patient doesn't wish to die? Or if they are being coarsed to agree while in a weakened state? Legalizing euthanasia will create a very slippery slope.
