That is very sad. What the heck makes people think they have the right to perform an exorcism, never mind allow one to die, and nearly gouge out the eyes of a teenager? That infuriates me..JN

Oh wow...
Thats so horrible!
cowspwn
o i got it, i re read it...

man that family must be really uneducated to act that way...
Genocyde
Both of those stories are about the same girl, right? Thats horrible, scratching out her eyes, and drowning her because of a curse? Thats just sad.

No, it's actually one 22 year old female who they allowed and watch drown, and her cousin who nearly lost her eyes. What a family!!! JN

Wow, where's the sanity?

Ew god, chunks out of her eyes, that's terrible! why didn't they incarcerated these lunatics after the first girl died?

40 people watched! I'm glad this is being treated as a homicide. I wonder if the victim thought herself to be possessed or if it was the others who forced the exorcism on her.

Her poor daughters hmm.gif

I cant believe out of the 40 people that watched, none of them stopped the ritual before the girl died. Furthermore, the fact that they performed the ritual in the first place is insane... i thought it was supposed to help "cure" people, not kill them in the process! Since i dont believe in posession and rituals, i think that the whole family was insane for thinking that they were possessed, especially just by looking into their eyes hmm.gif I think the person who could see the devil in their eyes is the one that needs the treatment laugh.gif Anyway, no offence if any of you in here believe in posession, it is just my oppinion. God things like this get me soo angry! angry.gif

That's a disturbing excorcism story, I hadn't heard of one winding up like that. to tell the truth I haven't read that many articles on excorcism.

trying to help someone who believes they are possessed or exhibits signs of such is a delicate matter to deal with and should be approached as such...most of the people who think they need an exorcism do not but need either medical attention and/or a real change in lifestyle...but i do beleive that there are people who are oppressed and/or possessed by the evil of this world and truly need help...but this help does not involve the destruction of the host, which is a real hollow victory over the evil and furthers their work, or the additional torture of the person involved, who is already being tormented, i assure you...

If the demon is a spirit entity of some kind, how would drowing the physical body of the host hurt the demon??

There are quite a few stories emerging this last couple of years about exorcisms gone wrong... it makes you wonder if all of these "accidents" really are or if at any point it's a way to get rid of someone. hmm.gif

I am trying to take into the consideration that every Country has different rituals, beliefs and religions, however what right does family have to take it into their own hands? Also where is the proof the poor women were possessed. This is where the danger lies out there, uneducated, ignorant people who believe they have the faith and power to perform an exorcism, and they DONT..Forty people including family watched the first woman die? Right Reg, sounds like a homicide to me too..JN

Like most exorcisms, Makutu is mostly about cleansing the body. This is mainly done with water, and can include fasting. It's not so much of an exorcism, as there are no evil spirits within a person with Makutu, but a curse or hex. It should never get as serious as it was in these cases. The procedure should not be much greater then something as simple as a Christian mass or baptismal. It seems the family in this case took it to the extremes. Specially when you have so many onlookers, one can dawn a " mob mentality ", and things are carried to far. A sad ordeal.

May God Bless them.

That is disgusting. I don't care if it was an exorcism, it makes no difference. It was unreasonable, cruel, and totally and completely unnecessary. I think every one of the 40 people (adults) who witnessed it receive a punishment, and I hope all their children are taken from them and raised in an environment where you don't have to worry about your loved ones turning on you and clawing your eyes out.

my point exactly...you can't kill the host and claim victory over the demon...it just moves on...

you may be right...how many are really not "accidents" but a good way to get rid of someone you don't want around...

very true!!!...ignorance should not be a defense...if they were smart enough to see a problem they were smart enough to see their "cure" not working...i agree it is a murder of that woman...
