actually blu ray players in other countries are outselling HD DVD. Once people get there HD players and then they'll be kicking themselves when they realize they won't be able to see the movies they really want. I've talked to some people who think they can buy a regular HD player and still be able to watch Pirates of the carribean or spiderman and i have to tell them that isn't the case. Plus in europe Blu ray players are selling better than HD same in australia. That whole thing with porn only worked in the 80s when there weren't other ways to get it. Now you can just download porn when you want. So saying something like porn will help the winner is lame because there are a ton of ways to get it not like in the early 80s. I say if you have the money then buy one. You'll be happy with the great sound and picture. I think atheist god works for microsoft going on about digital downloads. Who wants to watch a movie sitting at their computer anyways? Microsoft is the only one worrying about digital downloads.
Companies are actually making player that can play both Blu Ray and HD DVD due to the divide amongst the 2. You think people who own a Blu Ray player will be able to watch movie that come out from Dreamworks or movies like say The Bourne Trilogy? No which is why people wil ultimately opt for a stand alone player that plays both and then in a few years after the hype is gone everything simply goes digital.
No digital downloading does not mean sitting at your computer although you could if you want. When I say digital downloads I mean like a box on your TV similar to a satellite receiver that doubles as both a tv channel receiver and contains a PVR system and big ol hard drive to store things on.
In Regina Saskatchewan, Sasktel Already offers a VoD service which you can download from for free and record if you wish.
As for your MS remark no I don't and actually MS is pushing HD DVD since they helped development.
I predict the same thing happening with movies and tv that is now happening with music, which is of course digital.
