Oooooo, this scared the bejeeebers out of me when I first saw it, it's from the end of the classic 1969 movie. unsure.gif

Spoiler: this is the end part of the movie, if you don't want to know, don't watch it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2usJoHX798

It was number 83 in Channel 4's top 100 scariest moments.

You're welcome Goalie - it's quite subtle and that can be really scary, like in Blair Witch. I find the noises he makes really eerie too crying.gif

That was absolutely chilling, Regency!!!!
I've never heard of that movie, but now I'll have to buy it, so I can see the rest of the story!
Thank you so much for posting this!

My pleasure Jennie. thumbsup.gif

The guy who gets scared by the ghost is the actor who plays Jacob Marley in the Alistair Sims version of Scrooge - his name is Michael Horden. I think he plays a brilliant Marley too (maybe because of his ghostly connection with this film).

Looks pretty interesting, but not really scary in my opinion though. Of course, I am kind of "numb" to those things. I do special effects for horror movies, and I am also a paranormal investigator.

If you want to see something really scary, one of my favorite scenes in a movie, is in the movie Darkness Falls. The movie itself is OK, but kind of a cheesy story line(being about a killer tooth fairy).
Anyway, in the beginning of the movie, the kid is afraid of a ghost that is supposed to be coming for him. He is laying in bed when he starts hearing noises, and pulls the covers up over his head. The noises stop, so he slowly pulls the covers down. As soon as his eyes are over the top of the covers, BOOM, right there, just an inch in front of his face, is the face of this ghost, which is horrifying enough when it's not right in front of you. I had been waiting for that exact scene in a movie for years. That, to me, is the one of the most horrifying things I could imagine.

I think this type of ghost movie you either get or you don't - like the Blair Witch, you never see the witch, but people were terrified all the same, and other's thought it rediculous - it's very subtle. Slasher movies and horror movies that involve people being chopped up, don't do anything for me, they seem too far fetched.

Thanks for your info on Darkness Falls, see that bit where you say they pulled the covers down and the ghost is right there crying.gif that does sound freaky. unsure.gif

Yeah, for the most part I am immune to any type of horror movie. To me, they are more research than anything, and have been for a long time. Ever since I was little, I look at the special effects in slasher and horror flicks and try to figure out how they did them. Most people see blood and guts, I see latex and corn syrup.

His behavior was unnerving but the floating sheet made me giggle. One part of a movie that terrified me was in the movie Cocoon. The part where he looks through a hole in the wall and sees the alien then the alien sees him looking....uggghh unsure.gif . Some thing about seeing a thing your not supposed to and it seeing you creeps me out.

Yes, especially the part in that scene were it sees him, and starts floating toward him, looking right at him. I agree, that scene was pretty freaky.

You're absolutely right Clover, you could almost see the fishing line on the sheet! but it is that element of "... oerr, that's not right", that's unnerving.

BIGK1974 - awwww, I bet you're a right spoil sport to be watching horror DVD's with happy.gif

Nah, I try to keep things to myself. I get more enjoyment watching the other people get scared than I do watching the movie. Of course, I probably don't help the situations any when I scream or grab someone at just the right time during a movie to scare the hell out of them

HEHEE, I'm just like that, the screamer in the theatre. If you grabbed hold of me, I'd scream the place down. happy.gif

Daniella2310
So is the whole movie about him seeing ghosts? or just the end?

It is typical M R James in that, the main protagonist is an educated person who dismisses such frippery as the paranormal but is gradually forced to accept that it might be real...
