Monsterquest on the History channel, and other shows like that old Animal X that used to show on Animal Planet. Sure they're interesting and are part of a subject that some of us swear our lives by, but are they realy worth our time? These shows never accomplish anything from what I see, I've watched alot of cypto-hunter shows in my time and not a single one has ever found any solid proof. It's always maybe a broken twig with some hair on it, an unidentafieable track, a bump in the night. The motion-sensitive cameras they leave out never catch anything but squirrels and deer, the experts they consult are either foggy on thier results or just say "fake" or "Escaped Zoo Animal." All the while recounting sightings and facts about the creature that anyone with a remote interest who has done any outside research would already know, same old same old.
And the one thing that is unavoidable at the end of every episode and the one that annoys me to no end is when the researchers turn to the camera and say: "Well, we havn't found anything this time, but there still just miiiight be something out there...." Thats right, keep watching the skies, true believers.
Honestly, I'm hoping these shows are run by idiots and dolts because if the way they go about it is actually the sensible way, and they still don't find anything, then I'd begin to doubt the existance of these creatures as well, which I realy don't want to do.
And I suspect that if they ever do find anything big, they won't tell us, because then they'd be out of a job, they may keep us in the dark to keep us guessing, keep us watching and giving them ratings.
The only upside to these shows is that they would help increase interest and bring attention to these subjects.
