Ever since I have saw the movie "the ring" I have been terrified of the girl in it. I alwyas think she will be around every corner I turn and is watching me when I sleep. I have tryed telling myself it is just a movie but it doesnt work. If I see a picture of her I'll be even more scared and not even be able to sleep.
How do I fix this! It is driving me insane.
Our own minds are slightly sadistic in that it seems to "like" torturing us.
Before you try to sleep, shut your eyes and run through some mundane, boring task - such as washing up. Picture yourself washing every cup and saucer, every plate and bit of cutlery. Make sure you actually, in your mind's eye, wash and dry every single bit. If you start off with a great pile, you will never reach the end, you will fall asleep.
I used to have a similar problem (mine wasn't with "The Ring" though), I discovered that if I ran a 400 metre race from beginning to end in my mind, I never actually reached the finishing line, because I fell asleep. Gradually after several weeks, I began to get over my "little" problem. The reason I chose a 400m race was because I used to compete in track and field athletics and the 400m was my event, the race I would run through my mind was one that I had actually ran in real life.
By the way, do you have the DVD or video of The Ring? If so, get rid of it. Why torture yourself further?
