DALLAS — A man on the run from police since his teenage daughters were found shot to death in a taxicab on New Year's Day had threatened to hurt one of the girls for dating a non-Muslim boy, according to police documents.

Authorities deflected questions Wednesday about whether the sisters, who had both a Christian and Muslim memorial service, might have been victims of an "honor killing."

"There's a lot of speculation out there right now," Irving police spokesman Richard Gilmette said. "We have no solid information."

Amina Said, 18, and her sister Sarah, 17, were found shot multiple times in a cab outside a suburban Dallas hotel. Police found them after one of the girls called 911 from a cell phone and said she was dying. A capital murder warrant has been issued for Yaser Said, 50, who has not been seen since the Lewisville High School students were found dead.

You are supposed to love and protect your children, not kill them for actually living their lives. I just don't understand the person who would kill their child because they dated outside their religion, there si so little tolerance in this world.

Thats truly shocking.

Theres a story over here in the UK at the moment over an Asian girl who was found on a River Bank 5 months after going missing. Her parents never reported her as missing.

I read that on BBC. I don't get that. Sure, you tell your kids to do something or not to do something and get frustrated when they do it anyway, but to kill them for not wanting to marry someone? Or killing them for making their own choice in who they date? Way beyond reasonable IMO.

That happened about 20 miles from where I live. Crazy people use relgion as an excuse and some people except it. I don't. Fry him.

I agree, Eric. Just no excuse for it.

This is so familiar, as to a few weeks ago, when we read about the Muslim girl who was killed by her father and brother.....These are not parents, but control freaks who will see no changes in their religion when coming to a new country.....It's fine to keep certain traditions, but to kill your own children because they want to live their own lives is just sick....An "honor killing" my butt, this was cold blood....

l agree with you, l don't understand either why a parent would ever want to harm their child.

This is dishonor to Islam . This religion doesn't teach killing your children . These people are wackos.

ummm, no, the ***hole father killed those girls, not a religion, neither did the religion state for him to kill...
say something useful rather than cracking a lame*** joke...
call them control freaks or what you want, the harsh truth is these are people grew up unsocialized, they have no understanding of the west, and when it comes to these situations they don't have any power to do anything so they take the easy way out, be it forced marriage, murder or something else...
it is sad and upsetting, they lack the basic qualities of parenting and socializing, hence these atrocious crimes are committed...
its something called "culture clash"... something that needs to be sorted out before it spirals out of control...

I'm not surprised. As a Canadian living in Toronto I hear things all the time involving that particular religion. An 8-year-old girl was killed by her father recently after he found out she wasn't wearing the head scarf and traditional garb to school. She was killed for changing into the clothing of the country she lived in, imagine that. And it's not the only time it's happened.

I've known many Muslim people. They're everywhere here, and even want their own schools now (to teach what that can't be learned in the parents' home and in public schools? We already let Sikhs carry KNIVES around for "religious" purposes). I see young girls walking around in the heat of summer wearing those big black garbs - burkas, are they? There are so many aspects of their culture that aren't related to the religion, and do not belong in a country of freedom. And yet there they go. Most of the Muslim girls I knew in highschool weren't even allowed to talk to guys on the phone, and yet their male relatives were out banging whoever they wanted.

Stupid, stupid, stupid, and though it's been debated endlessly, I will never change my stance on whether or not such "clashing" cultural practices should be justifiable in my country. The religion is fine. Leave the culture in your old country, and if you're going to be a Canadian citizen, be a ****ing Canadian citizen. Why leave your country in the first place if you're going to try and turn your new one into it?

So many aspects of it, like the Old Testament, are grossly against women and is grossly against the Charter of Human rights we follow here. I kind of went off on a tangent, but though not all of them would kill, there have been enough cases and not enough integration into North American society for us to pass this off as just a wacko.
