Ok, I have been working on a new story the past couple days that is going very well. I had been writing for a couple hours when I stopped to work out a scene and needed a name for a minor character.
Now, I just bought a name book that I had never opened until today. As I went through it I began to discover names or variations of that I had though were my own creation.
Now it gets even more interesting. Two Characters names were drawn from Latin base and the other two mains were drawn from Greek.
The name of one character turned out to be a variation of a surname of a family. The interesting part is that they are spelled completely different. I can assure you I have never come across alot of these name before.
Now where it gets wierd, I usually act out some scenes as I write them. ( leading the wife away from me at these points LOL) Until recently that has been a bland stiff process with little emotion.
Just now I could see the other two characters in the dialog I was working out and as I moved between them talking I would change my perspective as well. (switching personas so to speak)
I recently heard a report on NPR that states that most writers or artists have some goofy stuff going on upstairs. ( for sake of clairity they likened it to a form of epilepsy)
(I am finding it hard to type as I go on about this experience. My whole body is literally shaking. )
But normally I condsider myself a pretty stable person ( all my wisecracks and goofy sense of humor aside) But this was too wierd and experience.
Am I going nuts? Or have I finally achieved that form of creativity I was looking for? Could I have picked up a muse or something of the like?
Also for point of reference I have not actively wrote in awhile due to time coinstraints.

Very cool.
The first part doesn't surprise me. When I picked my son's name, I didn't know the meaning of his name. About a year ago I was reading through a name book my friend purchased and found out that my name and my son's name mean the same thing, even though the two are nothing a like.
The 2nd part is very neat. I come from a family of writers and inventors and yeah things aren't wired properly upstairs. LOL Have you thought a lot about what you wanted to write about? I think writers just think that way. The hard part is trying to get it out on paper. Sounds like you have mastered both parts my friend!

The thing that makes artists so talented can also be their greatest hindrance, or there best inspiration !!!

Thanks for the support. It really wierded me out seeing tha names play off one another they way they did.
But when the other happened...Yowza....
I did add another few pages last night and had some of the same stuff happen I guess I just am in the zone so to speak. I'll try to find an version of that report on NPR it was pretty cool.
And Yes I have thought Alot about it. It has been a project I have been working on and off for 6 or 7 years now. I only recently started the stories and deeper thoughts into it. ( world detailing religion etc)

I wouldn't worry about acting out your scenes...it's actually something I encourage other writers to do, especially the dialogue, to ensure it all fits together, and actually sounds like a conversation rather than a script.

This is a good thing...it doesn't mean you're crazy, it just means that you're getting into your character's heads. The more you write about them, the more you'll start to understand their personalities, and what they'd think of something, or react to different situations.
If you feel emotional after a scene, that's good to...it means you've managed to get a reaction from your writing, and if that's the case, it's likely you'll get a reaction from your readers too

Truth is they are getting better and more emotional. For comparasion It's making In the markets of Marripesh look weak.
Anyway, thanks for showing me I wasn't the only one guys....I thought the Psychotic part of the name would stick this time....

The book does sound interesting.
Do you think all writers are a little 'off centered' or just most of them?

Seriously, do you think great writers have turbulent lives...that, that is what spawns their creative genius?

Being a little loopy isn't required to be a good writer

It is, however, required to be a great writer...to make anything that'll stand the test of time, you need to devote far more time and effort than any sane person would.
One reason I happily remain an amature
