I am an aspiring writer and i would most certainly appreciate your advice on
certain things.
1. In terms of submitting articles to magazines and newspapers what do you
know about copyrighting? For example i want to submit one story to various
magazines and newspapers all over the world how can I go about doing that?
Do I just put on the article copyright or first serial rights? Is it correct
or unecessary to tell them the editors (that is of the magazines)that i am
planning to sell to other newspapers (in other countries and regions of
course). Why because I do not want to take the risk to sell to try to
publish only to one magazine not knowing if i will be published?

2.What would be your advice to me concerning these issues and overall advice
for trying to get your articles published by way of freelance to magazines
and newspapers? Please if you can I ask you for tips on how to avoid
pitfalls and how to get some good results from this writing. How to get good results and avoid magazines that only want that journal to claim or print an article.

3.Is it possible for me to ask someone on this forum to appraise and examine
my work just for fun and tell me if it is good enough for publishing? If so
interested please leave your email address..

Thanks Jammeing.[/sup]

It depends on what you are writing...what kind of writing are you doing?

You definately need to copyright every bit of your work. If you do not copyright your work and it ends up in a magazine or other work somewhere you really dont really have much legal recourse...

There are a lot of ways to go about that; lawyers can enter your work with the copyright office for a fee, or there are kits that you can get from office supply stores like Staples and Office Max that will walk you through the process, they cost about 20 dollars and arent too difficult to complete...

Different publications have different rules about simultaneous submissions (submitting to more than one publication at a time). Read the guidelines and follow them. If you want to submit one article to multiple sources, just go through your list of good matches and submit.

Most publications will want 1st rights (usually based by location - for example, 1st North American rights). It would be very strange for a publication to want to purchase your copyright and, in my opinion, you should stay far away from any one that does.

It is absolutely necessary. You can only sell the rights you have not already sold. And, like I said above, most publications are interested in 1st rights. Some accept reprints after a certain amount of time from first publication has passed. I highly doubt you would get your article published in many magazines and newspapers around the world at the same time.

I do not want to sound rude but, based on what you have written in the forum, you are not skilled enough in English to be published in this language. I'm not a professional editor or anything, and, of course, you could be 'writing casual' for the forum. original.gif
