Full Version: Need help with stalker that's on my computer

Ok, let me first tell you that the stalker IS someone who I thought was my friend. He installed a hard drive in my computer and put software on it too. He also mentioned that he had to re-wire the wiring in my computer because the technicians did it wrong when I bought my computer at Best Buy.

That alone had always stayed with me.

I didn't realize that he was stalking me until I began to notice little things, like I have an icon that says "ebay turbo lister" on the desktop of my computer, well one day, instead of it saying "ebay turbo lister" like it always says, it had my password instead.

Another time he constantly switches my icons on the control panel screen which I hate and changes the sizes of the box.

Another time, he gave me 14 viruses.

Another time, I had reinstalled ebay's turbo lister for the upgrade, he changed it and it did not function properly, but I got it to work anyway.

He has installed software on my computer called MoveNetworks.com 2x.

He disabled one of my software programs so it didn't work.

In the later part of 2007 I noticed he was on there all the time, in fact, every time I turned on the computer he was there.

He installed another software program that let's him hear me speaking or listening to something. I know this to be true, because there was this one day, when I was listening to the song "ghost rider in the sky" which I have heard probably 10 times. Well, I was listening to it this one day, and I heard a voice-type sound that says in a laughing manner "say something, haha say something". Of course, I said, get the hell off my computer.

Anyway, I just found out recently that all my cd's that I copied off "my unconnected to the internet" computer are all blank.

I have asked a couple of computer type people if he possibly put some-kind of wireless device on it, but they both told me that he would need a big anttena (sp?) and live within certain miles from my house.

My question is: what did he put on my computer that will let him have complete access even though I am NOT CONNECTED to the internet and cause this much problems for me?

What type of software? or device? is out there that can do this?

The problem with him stalking me has become quite extreme and I am no longer on my computer but a computer that I won on ebay. I am now away from him prying eyes and changed all my passwords, etc.

Can anyone help me?

Can anyone tell me what he is using to give him access without my computer being connected to the internet or phone line?

Thank you in advance.

Most of the things you listed sound like the results of regular old viruses and spyware...you can pickup those things from files and websites that download things onto your computer that you dont want.... some of the other things kind of sound a tad paranoid to be blunt...

I think you may be assigning more actions to this person than they have earned...maybe that is just me...

Sounds like a hacker to me not stalker.

Whats the difference?

I mean if you have a hacker that can potentially go through your whole pc.. then whats the difference? If a hacker is hacking like that.. then I see that as cyberstalking personally. They choose their targets... and if they are targeting home pc users then I think those people are just perfect examples of cyberstalkers that attempt to then try go under the guise of 'hacker'.. So they actually think they are cleaver when they are really just stalking people. And it's quite sad for everyone involved imo. Like I feel like I get cyberstalked quite a lot(I dont think I even need to go into examples..)and what that has given me now.. after the years.. is no trust at all in regards to people online. So the hacker/cyberstalker has taken not only my privacy away.. just like a 'real' stalker would when they wait around to watch someone or peek through their windows..

So I think they are the same thing, its just some people like to try to see themselves in another light... so they carry on like they are hackers etc... when really they are just kinda scary stalkers.! Wouldnt you think so if it happened to you?.. can you imagine...

Anyway in regards to the OP... I cant help ya.. I feel I'm in a similar boat.. It's a sad world we live in sometimes isnt it.

1. ditch the 'friend'
2. run a good virus checker.
3. reinstall windows/vista 'if you have to'.
4. see no1 again.

You know that's illegal right? You can get him to jail for that, but if you let him install a hard drive on your PC than it's not so illegal....

I didn't have any of those on my computer and I very seldomed downloaded anything on my computer for that very fact.

I had a virus scanner on my computer with a copy of adware for spyware remover too. There was nothing up to when I turned it off for for the last time.

I know what I have experienced.

He is a hacker too. He used to brag to me about how he could break-in to anything and get away with it.

That's what someone else said.

I don't think it would work, because there was this one time when I wanted to install some software on my computer and he wrecked the software by changing the names of the files, needless to say, it didn't work after that and I had to delete it. (he wrecked it on disc and in computer).

I know because I went back to look at the files on the disc and they were all different names.

I have used this software before and it worked without any problems.

Oh I have ditched the friend back in 2005, only thing is he never left. I know he's watching and waiting.

I thought about that. But is it still illegal for him to be on my computer when he installed my hard drive?

After all, he DID NOT HAVE MY PERMISSION to install anything other then my hard drive and software.

*** you should be aware that when I was on my computer and he was watching, I was on here a lot of the times, more than likely knows my username

Agreed. But switch around 3 and 3. Wipe drive, re-install Winblows.

You're assuming the guy is honest, obviously that's not the case. Wipe and zero the drive, reinstall Winblows. DON'T LET ANYONE use it. Change password for admin and don't give it out to ANYONE. Don't run the system wide open.

I thought about that. The IP that I have seems to change when I am registering something, or changing something. The websites give you a like confirmation that says this is from ip ->whatever and it's always different.
MissMelsWell
The only thing you can do is completely wipe your harddrive clean, set a very strong password, run a firewall, get anti spyware, get anti-virus, and don't download anything even remotely questionable to your computer. If you're using wireless, make sure it's secured. If you're really worried, switch ISP's.

It's the ONLY thing you can do.

Like fluffybunny said, it's unlikely that everything that's going on on your computer can be attributed to a hacker, very unlikely.

Just reformat the bloody thing and you'll be fine.

Your IP address will change over time... it's called dynamic addressing, your ISP will assign you a new one periodically.

Quite honestly, I think he put something wireless on my computer. Anyone know anything about wireless internet?
Like what does it need to be wireless?
What's the name of the software?
Do you think he put anything in the wiring?

I am already off that computer, but I was wondering what he could have used to gain complete access. It's like he's using pc anywhere. because it lets him come on my computer under the firewall, spyware software and virus software

Each time I turn on the computer I always hear like a little pop, figured that was alerting him, I was on.

For wireless internet all you need is a wireless card and somewhere close by a receiver station. Either yours or a neighbors(if you wanted to be bad). Trojan horse could do all that if there was a wireless card. I'm curious though what Pc security software do you have, like specifics? I know some of the less well designed(or not updated) anti-virus software will miss new virii and even spread them when you do a scan.

I understand and see your point of view, between hacker/stalker. I will speak more clearly next time on my reasoning.
This guy sounds like "trouble " and he can really mess things up for you. Can you go somewhere local and ask someone, or
buy something or a Blocker of some kind? Sorry this is happening and it would be scary if it was happening to me also
Yes, I did not mean to makeless of your situation.

A lot of what is described seems unlikely however, who knows? I think though that you will get more and better help on a forum dedicated to computer tech support like this one.
http://forums.techguy.org/
Try the General Security section.
Failing that, you may want to have someone physically look at your computer and reload it.

I would crack open my PC and check around It could be possible he is using some small wireless adapter jury rigged inside you're computer. I am sure some one could do it some adapters are smaller then a pen.

Aside from that I am not sure its a hacker. Make sure you have some good spywere/virus protectors on you're PC. Also download or buy a good firewall most firewalls have a pop up that happens every time a attempt is made for a program or any thing els to send a signal to enter or exit you're computer. most have a stop button that will kill the programs action in a dead stop.

IF he is using a virus spywere or program to hack you're PC it will pop up every time that program does a action. So it should eliminate the problem.

Disconnect everything that is linked to your computer, get a new everything and maybe it will be ok?

Just a thought.

How can I change it? Do I have to contact my isp to do that?

I've been leaving my dsl on all day and all night, which I have not done when I was on my other computer, is there a way that he can enter my computer through my ip address?

I always thought there was "a way" but I really don't know.

I already did this, I looked inside, but I am not familiar with the insides of a computer. I already have the zone, adware and avg software on the computer. But whatever he is using, he CAN get on anyway. It's like he's gaining access under the firewall, because he is always there even when I am not connected to the internet or phone line.
bigdog112
well its easy to spot some thing like a lil wireless adapter. It should be blinking green and probably not near any other parts most likely stuck on the side of the PC case inside.

Do you mean Zone alarm and not The Zone I have never heard of the zone.
Crovus v2.0
Ok... I'll finally put my 2 cents in on this....

1) Every symptom you've said matches many different forms of spyware, adware, and viruses. It's the kind of thing that will mess with your computer even after you've gotten better virus definitions. Because it's already horribly embedded in your system (software).

2) If he's using a wireless device to connect to your computer, unless there's a massive antenna sticking out of your compter, he would have to be within about a block of you to mess with you. Which brings me back to what all I stated in number 1).

3) If you are using the programs Adaware, Norton Antivirus, or Spyware Sweeper, don't bother renewing any subscription to them, as they all like to miss software that will mess with your system.

If you want your computer to work, format the hard drive, reinstall windows, and immediately afterwards install Either McAfee or Symantec antivirus, Spyware Doctor, and a popup blocker (just about any one will do).

If you STILL think some guy can do everything you say he can, then take apart your computer, get a couple good pictures of the insides, and post them on here, so people like me (who work on computers daily) can look at it and tell you what's not supposed to be there.

Yes, that it, zone alarm. Whatever he's using, he comes in under everything.

Alright, first off, let me start of by saying that the probability of this guy being inside your computer are slim to none considering you arent actively connected to the internet.

1) for him to have installed an active wireless internet connection, he would need something with atleast a 200Ft. radius of your house that is broadcasting a wireless signal for your net to connect to.

2) EVEN IF he were able to get your IP, he would have a hell of a time connecting to and staying connected to it. Especially if your ISP lets it revolve over a 24 hour period

3) The issues you are having probly stint from software that was installed beforehand. you get any toolbars with that ebay software? better check... leave the porn sites and P2P alone that makes up for 90% of all viruses and malicious software on the net.

4) Taking over voice recognition requires that the ports be open for such (this also applies to remote desktop viewing and control) AND it requires that Microsoft (lil pop up window) ask you for access... since Windows 2000 there has not been a version of this OS that has allowed Automatic Desktop Control or Remote Viewing.

THE CURE:

Go to Microsoft.com, do a search for WINDOWS ONE LIVE CARE, download it, install it, and let it run a deep scan. For now, its one of the best pieces of software for removing malicious software and viruses. It will also detect some security issues and resolve them.

If one live care does not work.... Do a fresh install of windows, Have your ISP change your IP address. and assign a new Mac Address.

wipe out your hard drive and reinstall windows, or buy a new hard drive, change all your passwords, buy a firewall, and get a virus/spyware filter.

The guy probably installed a back door which gave him unlimited access. After you reformat and reinstall you op system, get yourself a good router with a firewall. I have a Cisco, where I use NAT, dynamic IP and impossible to discover password. He won't be able to get past that.
