this is the argument I get into constantly with my mates. which is better? ps3, 360 or the wii.

well, people have started topics like this before but none have had a poll.

I think (in other words I know!) that the superior console is the PS3. 360's are cheap looking heaps of useless plastic. they randomly die, and are the uglyest console i've seen since the N64.

the ps3 on the other hand has better graphics, better games, is better looking and is all in all better than the 360.

wii's are quite cool but just cannot stand up the superior power of the ps3 and 360. the wii's controls are unlike any other and is is insanely fun to play.

i think of it like this,,,,,

the ps3 is the sophistacated dude in the suit top.
the xbox 360 is the imature ugly looking guy in a white tracksuit
while the wii is the hyperactive 5 year old thats trying to copy the white tracksuit look of his mate, the 360.

I think hardware wise the PS3 is the best hardware it has a lower hardware failure rate backwards compatible with the two previous generation so it does have the largest library. The tech is better then the 360 except the 360 has more ram to work with but a good programmer can get around ram limitations.

I like a lot of the 360 games that came out or are coming out but I don't want to jump on the 360 if it means wait 1-2 years and it will be on the PC (personal preference for gaming) with exclusive content or on the PS3. Everybody knows about the hardware problems. The loud dvd drive is pretty bad.

I'm getting tired of the wiimote I just cant stand it for more then a hour. It's is killing my enjoyment of Zelda TP and Mario Galaxy the only two games I'm interested on the Wii right now. I preferred Zelda TP on the gamecube and I literally just finished MG as fast as possible just to get it down. The wiimote felt like a last minute thing on the wii version of TP and added little too the gameplay of Mario Galaxy. Companies need to give options for gamecube or classic controller with their games. And online gaming on the wii is non existent. And what do you know i'm only interested in two games both by Nintendo and I kind of like that one marble game forgot what it's called. At least their is the gamecube library to play with.

This won't end well.
Just you watch as the fanboys and trolls roll in!

Personally,ps3 and xbox 360.no winner for me!:)

The wii is the best system for people who actually enjoy creativity, and also the best for the price. The games are cheaper and the system is cheaper. It is graphically weaker but I believe that is mitigated by those other factors.

For the price, the 360 may be better than the ps3, but the ps3 is obviously a stronger system. The 360 also breaks down a lot.
Cadetak
The PS3 has the power, 360 has the games, Wii has the innovation.

Considering I buy consoles to play games I go with the 360 as of now.

I vote wii

No option for PC?

I'll go for 360, tbh. I'm not a fanboy as such. For me PC will always come first. But 360 has the more entertaining franchises than the other consoles. Wii comes second, mostly because of the Wiimote. Ps3 is last because honestly after playing CoD4 i questioned exactly what was next gen about it? (The trees, by god the trees. I can has anti aliasing?) On PC it looks absolutely stunning. Then again, the ps3 has a Geforce 7900, am i correct? Which isn't even based on this generation's hardware.

The ps3 has the potential to look better than the 360 if developers would take the time to fully use its power. I don't know that this justifies the higher price.

Wii is the family all rounder.
Xbox360 is the shadowy night time player.
Ps3 is the day time challenge.

360.Best choice of Games. The reason you buy a console.end of story
InHuman
I own a Wii so take that into consideration.

I'm a bit undecided at this point because I have yet to play a game that proves the motion controls were worth it. And there have been few games on the console that really wow me. But that will change when SSB comes out.

PS3 has sub-par BC, you have to buy the 80g to play most ps2 games. ALso most offerings in terms of multi-platform are worse on the PS3.

The play station has ALOT of potential in terms of driving new physics engines and graphics with its raw power, but this potential has not been put to use, although it on its way with ambitious titles like AC.

At this point, as an average gamer the Xbox is the best bet since its library at the moment is the only one worth noting. However its bounderies have been drawn in terms of what works and what sells.

Threads like this dont really contribute much, if your a console gamer and serious about your buisness, I suggest getting either a PS3/X-box and a wii as a secondary system

Nintendo is not directly competeing with the sony and micro in the marketplace, but its low price and popularity make it something you should atleast check out.

So final verdict?

No one can tell this early, 08/09 is when comparisons can be made..

Well if its all about the games definitely PC will always dominate in quantity and quality!

list of games coming to the PC in 2008 some most likely will come out in 2009

http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_...pic_id=25632718

Over 180 games listed in that thread that is way more then any one of the next gen consoles will put out and that is only a fraction of the games that will come out on the PC. If there is somebody out there crazy enough to log every single indie game and freeware game that comes out i imagine the list would probably be in the thousands!!

As for hardware of course PC will definetly win bet some idiot will come and post oh you need to spend 3000 for a high end PC no you don't you can build a great gaming PC for $700-$800 that can play Crysis (the most graphically intensive game out today) on its highest settings and of course you will get all the benefits of having a PC which a console probably will never give you.

I can't wait for Sins of a Solar Empire and lol maybe Dragon Age will come out this year
Atheist God
I voted PS3 not because I'm a fan boy (I like Wii more) but because of hardware. Technically the PS3 is better then 360 and Wii...

Now I would not have voted for Wii anyway just because it's a different experience then your run of the mill consoles. Really it's aimed at a different market then the other 2 video game consoles out.

My brother showed me some behind closed doors stuff for PS3 that and 360 coming out in the next couple of years and PS3 in 2 years in regards to graphics etc will cream all over the 360. Right now 360 has the games though to keep me playing but I don't think it will be long before MS makes an X-Box 3.

Heres a quick Q,Why do so many people think PC is better than any game console? It wasnt made to play games,It was made to look at pron.Correct? The PC might beat most of the older consoles with a few good games but not the next gen consoles.
Super Pancake
The PC is made to do whatever you need it to do if its possible. Gaming is one of those things a PC can do and do well and its pretty stupid thing to say PC are not made to play games after the fact the first video game was made and played on a computer.

PC in general if made from the ground up and not just some console port play better and look better if you pc meets and or surpass the minimum requirements. Also the games have longer shelf life then console games due to the fact the PC gamer community will make and release mods, tweaks, and even graphical updates making the game more enjoyable for years to come.

And look it up on metacritic for some comparable popular opinion the PC has more games that score 90+ with 77 games then any one console the console that comes even close is the ps2 with 62, and if we go by 80+ its even more 472 games for the PC then anyone console the PS2 comes second with 317.

Since 2005 the start of next gen on consoles public opinion on metacritic 21 games scored over 90+ % for the PC, 11 on the 360, 3 for the PS3 and 4 for the wii. PC has more 90+ rating games then all the next gen consoles put together.

According to game rankings in 2007 only releases the PC had 8 games with an average critic score of 90+, the 360 had 7 the Ps3 had 3 and the wii only had 2

According to game rankings In 2006 only releases the average critic score for pc games with 90+ was only 2 the 360 3 the PS3 had none and the wii had 1

According to game rankings In 2005 only releases the year next gen started for consoles the average critic score for pc games with 90+ was 4 and the 360 only had 1

So according to critics during the next gen era the Pc had 14 games that averaged 90+, the 360 had 11, the Ps3 and the wii only 3

So your wrong when you say PC games have not had good games during the next gen era so far critics and gamers say other wise.

I dont see what a difference of 3 games is going to do to make the PC a better machine to play games on,And im just saying.Your not going to hear "Dude I just got my lawn gnome to lvl 34!" as often as you would hear "I sniped a guy in narrows right befor he jumped into the man cannon".And I dont care what critics think,They could say a games sucks and yet I find it fun to play.I really could't care less about what they think and If you do than I am sorry to hear that,They tell you what your suppose to look for in a game.Don't listen to them,Just take a chance and try the damn game out for yourself befor being brainwashed by their half baked ideas make their way into your head. The same goes for gamers,If they like a game good for them. But I'd rather not listen to what they thought of certain levels,or what they thought could have made the game better.

Way to twist words maybe 3 games would not make a difference if you owned all three consoles but if you owned only one of the three consoles the difference is big.

Then how can you judge next gen console games or better then PC, were you stating an opinion or a fact I remember something about you stating facts in the resident evil thread. I posted stats on popular opinion and only took stats that gamers agreed with critics I was going to but stats by gamers only but the numbers would of overwhelmingly go in favor PC games, but I guess it does not matter what gamers the people that actually play games think, because obviously they are wrong cause consoles are better.

"Dude I just got my lawn gnome to lvl 34!"

As if for the past 20 years of gaming rpg's don't exist on the consoles, the games that sold consoles consistently on consoles were RPG's and action adventures. If anything more FPS games come out on the PC then the consoles every single year. FPS games on the PC is the definition of the genre.

I've never actually played the PS3, don't know anyone who owns one. From what I can tell it's an expensive version of the X360 with less games? Performance benchmarks don't mean a thing if developers can't exploit them.

I personally don`t believe that one is better than the other overall, they all have their own strengths and weaknesses that make them all unique systems potentially worthy of a purchase. I currently own a Wii and 360 as they have the games that interest me, plus a PS3 is still far too expensive down under for a Uni student such as myself to purchase. I may get one down the road, though as there are a few exclusive PS3 titles that interest me. The 360 has the largest quality games library currently though so that it put's it ahead of the Wii in terms of time I devote to it though then again I only purchased my 360 in November of last year so I have a heap of games to catch up on anyway. So cutting to the chase, they are all good. tongue.gif

Probably not, since the 360 has been out longer, it has alot of really good games for $30 and under.

Im saying the 360, cause it has the games I want. The other systems, very few games interest me in the coming years, but the 360 has a big catalog already and more ones to come.

I find that I would've spend more time playing SNES games rather than 3D games. I have Rainbow Six Vegas on my new computer and it runs perfectly, but playing Megaman X is much funner for me

PS3.

The groundwork has been laid in terms of the hardware. The games are lagging a little behind, but MGS4, GTAIV and Final Fantasy will definately make use of it's power.

These are games that will move PS3's. I personally don't think that the console war has really even started yet.
With the PS3 price drop + highly anticipated games + blu ray defeating hd dvd, PS3 sales are looking to pick up, dramatically I think.

Cheers.

Wii = WHEEE! Nice and affordable, and definitely a different style of gameplay. Once you get the hang out it you can chillax on the couch and used the Wiimote as comfortably as any other controller.

I'm just pissed that they haven't come out with a lot of good games yet. The new Call of Duty is decent, MP3 is ****ing _EPIC_ and we're still in the loop for Resident Evil games, and Transformers wouldn't be fun on a regular controller, but we're definitely missing out on a lot of good FPS/racing. And the new Mario game is douche-y to the max.

Still, wouldn't trade it for any other system. ^_______^

Um I have them all they are all great I'm just a gamer i like all game systems technically the ps3 is better and as time goes on it will get more popular like when home comes out the online gaming is not so cool though. i love the xbox 360 and there are alot of games on that and the online system is great the wii is awesome too its more of a party system though but i love them all

Yeah that game sure is complicated. Its not like the game takes any skill like Tekken or Soul Caliber. Given how much you like the Wii though it's not surprising you think button mashing is great gameplay. Although I guess this game does have its place among the skill-less button mashers, maybe thats why its so popular.

I've only played it on the GC though, it may be different on the Wii but I doubt it.

Every fighting game is button mash fest. Mash a bunch of buttons together and you will end up pulling off some kind of combo. Now when actually playing against someone with skill you have to put away the button mashing and learn the game.

I use to own everyone in Soul Caliber and Dead or Alive with basically just button mashing until I met some people who actually knew how to play the game and the owned me.

By your logic every FPS is R1, R1, R1, L1 for grenade, R1...respawn, rinse, repeat and any skill less button masher can be good at an FPS by just holding down the trigger but we both know that isn't so.

To all members, this is an example of a fanboy who is trolling and flame-baiting. Ashigaru, you have been warned constantly about your behaviour and yet you never learn, please UM members do not emulate this members actions or behaviour.

To state that SSBB is a simple button-masher while Tekken and Soul Calibur are skilled non button-mashing fighters is idiotic and makes no sense. I have played versions of all three franchises and they are all button-mashers, like just about every fighting game ever made. I personally would take a Smash bro's game over the others any day, but that's just me.

The skill in FPS doesn't come from button pressing. Nice try but fail.

Ashigaru, that was WAY out of line. If you have a problem with what someone says(staff or otherwise) then report it; outburst like that simply get yourself in trouble as you just have. You have been here long enough and have been warned enough times to know better. Take a couple days to cool off...

The skill in SSB doesn't come from button mashing either. You just don't know the game. Go to a gaming message board and see how much support you gain with the above accusations. Brawl is already generating great reviews and selling truck loads.

I'm kind of a crappy Smash Bros player by professional standards but if you spam A against me you will surely loose. Just like me spamming R1 in Resistance(or whatever PS3 players have) won't be enough for me to beat you.
