HELP. my ps3 won't play any of my ps2 games. it's an eighty gigabyte one so i thought it should!!!

Your in Scotland so I assume your PS3 is PAL region. Are your PS2 games pal? Even though the PS3 is region free when it comes to PS3 games the PS1 and 2 games are still region locked.

the thing is, I think it is imported from the US. could that have something to do with it?

Yes if your system in NTSC (North America, South America region) and your PS1 and PS2 games are PAL (Europe, Australia, Africa, Asia region) then they won't play. you will probably will need to somehow trade that in for a pal version or wait till some independent software swap program that can let you play region locked games.
