Major League Baseball = MLB

Totally a L.A. Dodger fan and a semi-San Diego Padres fan.

I'm glad the California, no I mean the Anahiem, No I mean the L.A. Angels made the playoffs last year, tho' they lost to the BoSox.

Excuse me while I go on an MLB rant...you can skip over this as it is just a rant...

I used to love baseball. It is a great sport, unfortunately the professional players have kind of made a mockery of it in my opinion. Years and years ago when I was in college I worked full time and went to school full time...busted my butt to get by making maybe 5 or 6 dollars an hour in a machine shop in between classes. I saved up for weeks to go to an Angels game...It took probably a month of scrimping and saving to make enough to get in and watch a game...

So here how it would add up. 6 bucks for the privlege of parking in a parking lot (where my stereo got boosted in as many years).... 17 dollars for nosebleed seats. 4 dollar for a hotdog. 3 dollars for peanuts. 3 dollars for a soda. 6 dollars for nachos. 6 dollars for a dixie cup of beer. Programs are 10 dollars. Nevermind a Tshirt or a hat. for 25 dollars.

So about 55 bucks for an evening at the park per person, which when you make 5 or 6 bucks an hour is considerable. So it is a big deal. I saved up and bought the tickets ahead of time for a game against KC. So The game was good. Not great, but good. The nachos were cold. The dog was cold. The beer was warm though somehow. It wasnt worth the price of admission or the weeks of hard work I saved up for the game...

Shortly thereafter the poor tortured souls who only made millions of dollars per year to play a game, and millions of extra dollars for signing their names on shoes and clothing lines decided baseball was so unfair that they had to strike for more money. There were guys who were sitting on the bench who never even made it on the field who made half a million a year plus all of the benefits; hardly worth striking over.

So here I am working my butt off for months to pay for one night to watch these guys play a game; they are just absolutely treated so poorly(think vegatable field workers and coal mine workers) that they go on strike for a season... it was at that point that I figured out they were a bunch of primadonnas...and that I will never go to or watch another game again.

Really great points there Fluffy. That's why if I go to a game it's the minor league team here in my home town. MLB players are paid waaaay too much money and half of them are ungrateful for that.
