For those of you who might not be aware yet, the rock band Blink 182 known for their funny and dirty songs
decided to step out of their usual ways for once after reading a suicide note.

The product was a very popular song called Adam's Song named after the actual person who wrote the note before taking his life.

So I found this very powerful video on Youtube that features the note with the song in the background:

And if anyone is interested, here is the actual original music video.

I'm guessing towards the end he begins to talk himself out of it.

"Tomorrow holds such better days
Days when I can still feel alive
When I can't wait to get outside
The world is wide, the time goes by
The tour is over, I'd survived"

But definitely watch the one with the note so that you can help prevent these terrible things from happening.

Although Blink 182 had their heart in the right place when they wrote the song, they were victims of a chain email that contained the plagiarised work of a play author. Adam's letter is in actuality a letter from a FICTIONAL PLAY called "Adam's Letter" by John Cosper. Here is the pdf of the play in which it clearly states:

QUOTE (John Cosper)
Adam’s Letter is a work of fiction. There is no such person as Adam, nor is the author aware of
this sort of story ever happening in real life. Any resemblance between the characters, places,
and events to any real people is purely coincidental.

However, I'd like to point out that even though Adam Krieger is a fictional character, he should be considered as symbolic for those real people out there that are unfortunate enough to be in a similar position as is described in the letter. It is still sad and I do feel deeply for them. I encourage others to view the video (and read the letter) referenced in the OP just so that we can avoid similar experiences others might potentially find themselves in.

Cheers

Well that just killed it!!!
Don't let too many people know though. wink2.gif

And I absolutely agree with you that this should be considered symbolic for all the awful things that happen to unfortunete people especially in high school and such.

Sadly there are those who will remain unaffected even after viewing this. no.gif

I remember reading in a magazine once that Blink 182 had a fan who committed suicide and his mum somehow sent the letter to them and they read it and decided to write a song about it, the guy wasn't called Adam, he was just a regular guy, a fan of the band, and they wrote a song about the letter and called it Adam's Song, because obviously you wouldn't use the guys real name.
I''m pretty sure that it is based on a real suicide letter, but its not actually someone called Adam, and its not the chain one plagiarised from the play either.
Great song either way, really touches on the important issue of teen suicide.

Wait a second I thought the band wrote the song because they liked a David Cross skit on "Mr.Show"
The skits called "Titannica" and at the end they sing a song called "Adams Song" naturally the song doesnt sound the same
but check it out then make up your mind what really inspired Blink - 182
