Full Version: Games Worthy of an Update

Which games, from the older consoles, would you like to see given a graphical makeover for the current generation?

There are a couple for me, that really stand out, but what are your suggestions?

Parasite Eve 1 & 2
I'd hazard a guess, but this would probably make it Parasite Eve 3. The backgrounds of the game were always as good as anything on the PSone, and the gameplay had the best points of RPG and the Resi games. And Ayea Brea is a fairly high-profile game character. Why has there been no PS2 follow up?

Hogs of War
Essentially utilizing the basic idea of Worms, and taking it much further, Hogs of War was great fun to play, and utterly hilarious to watch and listen to. Very Monty Python, very Young Ones, very silly. Please please please, Infogrames, can we have a sequel? Pretty please?

you have got to be joking.......Simon the Sorceror was a crock of crap....

Sam An Max Hit The Road.......or Day of the tentacle........both extremely humerous ^_^
<bleeding_heart>
I like the sarcasm of Simon the sorceror Day of the Tentale was funny, i never bothered with Sam and Max, ever try The Space Quests???
Blood Angel
Dude, you have not lived till you played sam and max....seriously if you thought DOTT was funny, check Sam and Max. I remember playing one space quest, although my memory is a bit vague, must have been when i was ten or something...
Seraphina
Secret of Evermore...

For those who have never playing/heard of it...it was an RPG that squaresoft brought out on the SNES. It was one of the games that got Talon and I into RPGs in the first place...it had a strong story, great graphics for the time, and was very playable overall. Awesome game, that I'd love to see either revamped for the current systems, or given a sequal.
The Krow
Friday the 13th for NES...just because it bears the name Friday the 13th
Althalus
Thankfully they are now doing Spy vs Spy, which rules out me saying that game, other than that I would like to see:

Oh Mummy: Amstrad CPC 464

Rolling Thunder: C64

Head Over Heels: Spectrum 128

and who can forget the Dizzy games?

Xenojjin
Earthbound - an odd little RPG for the SNES that would do very well on a newer platform . tongue.gif
Althalus
Or even how about:

Myth: History in the making

Spindizzy

or even better Elite.
Naveed
Pitfall, hehe I think that game would rock in 3d. I played both the atari and Sega versions and really think they need a 3d version of it.

Yes! grin2.gif thumbsup.gif

How could I have forgotten about Elite? rolleyes.gif

And the Spectrum cult classic, Chaos? There was a bigger, more advanced version released on the Spectrum, near to the end, called Lords of Chaos, but Chaos was more accessible.

They remade elite three times:

Elite II - it was good, i thought although not as good as the original

Elite II Frontier - This was better than elite II but it was heavily full of bugs, so much so it prevented you from actually playing the game unless you got the patch (which was unavailable until the internet was invented properly).

X - Beyond the Frontier, This was made by THQ, they tried and failed. It crashed and burned literally, modern graphics nice effects yet the game play was severely crap. No proper starmaps, or hyperspace jumps, it required you to sit there for 10 minutes thrusting to your next destination, they messed up the trading, there was no way to buy a different/bigger ship......it was crap..

If they made a new elite on the same aspects as Elite II but with modern graphics, they would be onto a winner.

What was the two-way side scroller in space on the atari called it was so difficult even the developers couldnt crack it?

Kabal - that almost banckrupt me in the arcade!

Operation Wolf - as a kid I could never reach the damn uzi, the amiga version was spot on though.

Weren't we supposed to get Earthbound 64 back in the day...broke my heart when we didn't...Earthbound is worthy of an ubdate...but that doesn't mean it NEEDs it...

How about Pong.

Would like to see a table tennis game again.

Wouldn't be too hard to improve the graphics.

Just remembered another.

Vandal Hearts, by Konami, for PSone. I love this turn-based fantasy skirmish game. It really captures the feel of a tabletop wargame, with it's cool isometric battlegrounds. And the spell effects and music were pretty damn good, too. I know there was a sequel, also for PSone, but I would love a PS2 update.
Althalus
I have Vandal Hearts 2, and I would love to see a remake of either no's 1 or 2 as they could defenitely be better for having better graphics, not that there was anything bad with the old ones.
Athlon64
I would like to see Flight Unlimited 4 on the PC.........

Super Mario RPG!!!!!
I don't think of paper mario as a sequel, b/c it wasn't made by square and it wasn't as good.
Pious Augustus
The first Wild Arms...although i heard that they might re-release this game, an updated version of course, for the ps2...

Is that the only place it's on sale? huh.gif
OneEye
Actually, theres been a few sequels to Pitfall. There's one for NES, Super Pitfall. Then there's one for computer (Pitfall: The Mayan Adventure) and another that's coming out for XBox soon.

For a game that I think should be redone... Anyone remember that old Atari game with the "dragon" and you had to get keys. All you were on the screen was a little dot. I think it was called Labyrinth...

I will be disappointed if it is. The sooner I'm back on the dark, mean streets of The City, the happier I will be. ph34r.gif
