Myself and my husband were talking last night about the strange thing we both saw last summer and I thought I would share it.
We were outside around 11pm on a clear night. We live in the city and when nights are clear and dark, we enjoy looking at the stars, which doesn't happen that often. I was busy adjusting our little gazebo in the yard when I heard my husband shout "do you see that". I quickly looked up and saw this large rectangular shape passing over us. It was traveling slow for just a second then seemed to take off beyond the power lines and it was gone.
We are very used to planes, jets and helicopters passing over us night and day. We live close to an army base and their air traffic passes over us. I am very sure this was no plane. The object seemed to be very high up yet it was large (if a plane looks about 1" long in the sky from our ground view, this would be about 15" long and 8" wide, does this make any sense) It was a light brown color. It had no lights yet it was just bright enough that we could see it. There was no sound and it traveled much faster than the planes that fly by.
My husband said he saw two just before i looked up. I only saw the one that passed by.
I don't know what we saw but it was strange. Our army base thats close by is small and i have been there several times when I was in army cadets. I don't think they would have any "top secret" air craft like that, who knows.
This whole thing makes me think, how many of us really take the time to look at the sky. Its always there above us but we go about our busy lives and don't take the time to look up. These types of things could be more common. I would have totally missed it if my husband didn't say something. it was totally silent and not that bright.
any thoughts, similar experiences?

I'm not going to comment since I don't have a clue as to what you saw,
however...

Speaking for myself, I look at the sky
all the time...always have. Can't say that I've ever witnessed anything that wasn't
eventually explainable.

And what if its not explained, like many ufo cases?

Thanx for taking the time to post your encounter...AFAIK nothing is allowed to fly over urban areas without lights, stealth or no strealth plane..That it was completely unlit is unusual. ASs to what it actually was i have no diea but rectangular shaped craft, have been reported before...

I live near Tampa, FL. While it's not the biggest city there is, the light pollution is bad enough that there is only darkness for me up there...
Although I wonder - does belief in UFO's statisically differ between areas where light pollution is less than where it is higher?

I have absolutely no idea; there are not a whole lot of large rectanglular flying objects...not that I can think of. The description almost sounds like one of the fake UFO's that came out of the Haitian UFO videos from last summer...

For some years people have reported seeing a triangular object, like you report.
What it is, is anyone's guess.
There are rumors, rumblings and unsubstantiated claims that the U.S. has a triangular or diamond-shaped classified aircraft undergoing testing.
Who knows? Might be true or it might be wild speculation.
I find it interesting that you reported it to be light brown. First thing that comes to my mind is "desert camouflage."
Now, Ontario is hardly a desert.
Odd.
Who can say what lands at small, remote military installations, especially at night? Aircraft gotta refuel somewhere. The threat of prosecution and the loss of employment and retirement is a pretty good incentive for military and civilian airfield workers to keep their mouths shut.
I have no idea what you saw, or think you saw.
It's very difficult to gauge the size of something in the dark, passing overhead. Years ago I was startled to see a diamond-shaped object in the night sky, over a park, until I realized it was a kite! God knows why these two folks were flying a kite in the dark, but they were.
What you saw qualifies as a UFO in the three classic senses:
1. It was unidentified.
2. It was flying.
3. It was an object.
Beyond that, it's anyone guess what it was.

It is Saturday February 09, 2008 at 7.30 PM. San Diego, California. I went outside to smoke a cigarette and I was looking at the constellation Orion when I saw a dark shape almost blending with the sky pass over without any sound or lights, and moving much faster than a plane. I could not tell the shape but I am pretty sure that it was not the triangle thing people have seen. I live on the flight path for planes landing at Lindberg Field and I know that there is no possible way that helicopters or planes going north to south are allowed in that space as landing planes go east to west with their landing gears out as I am just a few minutes away from downtown San Diego where our airport is located.
This the second time in a short while that I have witness strange things in the sky. New Year's Eve my girlfriend and I saw about 7-8 round lights flying in a pattern going toward the ocean. I contacted the news and they had several people who had seen them also and one person was able to send the station a video tape of the objects.
As you say these things maybe more common than we think.
For those of you who like to make fun of people experiencing such occurrences maybe you should take the time to look up sometimes, who knows, you may be missing something incredible going on right over your head!
Any thoughts?
