Alright my girlfriend is making me do this since this is like the 20th time this has happened. I've googled everything and haven't come up with an answer. Last night's were some of the weirdest so I thought this would be a good time as well. Well, for the last couple months I have been getting strange scratches all over my body and can't think of a single thing to blame. My girlfriend believes in all the poltergeist stuff and i'm sitting here trying to find a reasonable explanation. My girlfriend has her nails clipped so there's no way she can be scratching me, i bite my nails so i'm out of the question, i sleep in perfectly non-sharp beds in both her place and mine and they've happened in both places. the last time at my house i had a 6 in scratch on my left thigh that my girlfriend found in the morning with dried blood in some areas...something like that would have woken me up and it definitely was not there before i went to bed. I took a picture of the one I got this morning, I'll admit this one has even me stumped. If anyone has any information to what the heck is going on please offer your input. Thanks guys

Those scratches look very similar to scratches I've had appeared on my body a few different times. They appeared during periods when my apartment had a lot of ghostly activity including some non-human (demonic) entities from time to time. Here's the thing though - I don't know of any documented cases where a ghost (person who died but hasn't moved on) physically injured somebody. It actually takes a non-human entity to do that, from what I've experienced and from what I've read.

In my situation the scratches only occured 5 or so times and stopped occuring after a couple months, and since have not returned.

I'd say if this persists for another few weeks you should consider getting your house blessed by a priest or having it cleared by a medium - whichever you prefer. Because it does appear quite possible a non-human, probably demonic entity is scratching you. In addition, since the latest scratches are the worst, things could get worse before they get better.

Have you noticed ANYTHING else unusual?

no cats, my girlfriend and i are in college. i live in a brand new townhome and she lives in a brand new house...i don't think it has anything to do with the places i am, but then again i'm very uninformed on this stuff. i've been trying to come up with intelligent arguments to bring some normalcy to this but i'm ready to hear other things. to be honest it would definitely freak me out if i knew a ghost was scratching me at night, i may never sleep again haha. my girlfriend just got really nervous this morning after seeing that and there is absolutely nothing on her bed or mine that could make that. also, i am a semi-light sleeper, something like that definitely should have woken me up..i'm out of guesses

You're 100% positive that those are scratches? It's rather strange that you get them and she doesn't. You may want to sleep lighter... hopefully your girlfriend isn't some kind of serial killer that plays with your neck with an icepick at night or something... eeeeeek ohmy.gif

yeah what else could they be? like i said, the last one had dried blood on the 6" one, that would have woken me up in an instant
stormgasm
I looked again at your scratches, and it's compelling (for me at least) that they look almost identical to the scratches I received several times on the same part of my body. I even had dried blood on a couple occaisons.

My biggest question for you would be have you and your girlfriend been under a lot of stress, or fighting, or is there any reason that there could be a substantial amount of negativity surrounding you two? I ask because negative energy like that can attract, at the very least, ghostly activity, and in this case possibly a demonic entity, so it seems.

I recommend asking your question to someone with years of experience in this matter. Visit
http://www.allexperts.com/el/3278-9/Paranormal-Phenomena/

Ask Donald Bandon Gresham about this. He has experience/knoledge with ghosts, the demonic and he's actually assisted in excorcisms (not that you need an excorcism!). So he's your man to ask on this subject. Good luck.

Get a video recorder, and record yourself while you sleep, if you wake up with more scratches and can see no obvious reasons for it, you'll have a much better idea of what your dealing with, IMO.

I could remember a time where I woke up to find a scratch in the form of a red circle with a straight line going from the circumference into the centre. It appeared on my arm and began to fade and disappear completely a short while after so i didn't get enough time to take a pic. If anyone knows of such a symbol, let me know ph34r.gif

Lol That is too funny! Would I would do is do some research on where you live. Or did someone you know die recently?? (Maybe trying to get your attention?)
ravergirl
there is this game we used to play where you lay on your back with your eyes shut and your friends put their hand on your head and legs and tell a story about you getting attacked by cats, at the end of the story after you have been attacked they flip you over and count the scratches on your back.
Having been awake and knowing nothing scratched you, how did these marks come about??
I don't think you are being haunted. i don't have a plausible explaination yet. will get back to you when i do.
randomhit10
sorry you are having this problem...things like this can be unsettling...

does this happen only when you are asleep or have you noticed anything while awake?...does it happen under clothing like a shirt or pants?...or does it only happen on uncovered areas of your body?...do you have any sensation like burning or itching after you wake up?..do you go hiking or spend time in the woods, park, etc?...in the past year?...have you changed soaps either in the bath or in the laundry?...or cologne?...any allergies that could show up in the skin?...new bedding?....what are the walls made of in your apt?...burn incense or candles?...has your apt been sprayed lately for pests (many people react to pest sprays)?....

i hope i didn't ask too many questions...something in here may be the solution...maybe we can figure this out...or you may very well have a paranormal event going on...

Bitten nails can be rather jagged and rough around the edges. Do you smooth them at all?

Hi Weston,
I have the same scratches as well but it's on my legs and one on my arm. The newest scratch was early this morning right above my knee, that one I felt when I was sleeping, but I didn't wake up and I guess I was scared to. I know we don't have no sharp objects on our bed (spring, no down comforter). It kinda freaked me out. I know at nite me and my 18 month old son sleep alone since my fiance is working. My uncle is at home as well but he's on the other side of the house. My son would cry almost all nite at some nites like he's scared and he's always sleeping close to me. I know I'm native american and I can get a medicine man to bless the house.

Well, the symbol did appear on my bicep which was sore the night after pumping some iron..
I was also about to go looking for some dumbells on sunday. I dunno, should I go or not mellow.gif

In any case, I think it's time to move houses now grin2.gif

Sounds like your full of it. Unless you have pictures to prove it, it just souds like another attempt to pull easily tricked people into believing a story you wrote for your own personal pleasure. Like I always say, I dont scan posts to look for proof of the paranormal, I scan these wonerful posts to prove fake what I can and study what I cant prove. Untill you have some kind of proof, your just a sorry writer in my eyes.

Scratched are one of the biggest mysteries that occur to a person while they are sleeping . Alot of them are caused by the person themselves even if they think its not possible . The easiest wat to find out is set a camcorder and record yourself sleeping until it happens again . Then you can find out what is causing it . It sounds stupid but try it , IT WORKS !

Nope, they are still there, and there have been attacks again this year. I have several EVPs from my time there. There are many spirits that dwell in that house. Not sure why but I'm still trying to figure it out.

Hi, I came across your forum when I googled "poltergeist scratches". Last night I went to bed with no scratches on my arm, this morning I woke up with perhaps 10 painful scratches that were very red and almost bleeding in a couple of places. This has never happened to me before. There is simply no way at all that this could have happened; myself and my wife and kids all tried to it to me with their fingernails, no chance. This was not done by a human in our house, and before you ask we don't have a cat. It is simply impossible that this could have been done during the night, but it was - there is no explanation. However it gets worse - my son woke up the same morning and his bedroom had been trashed, things had been thrown etc. and although he could of course have done that in his sleep it is a coincidence or is it more than just a coincidence? You may wonder whether he could have come in to my bedroom and scratched me, well I suppose he could but his nails can't do that (we tried) and I would have surely woken up if he was doing that to me, I'm a light sleeper. I can send you a pic of the scratches, they are VERY similar to yours.

This isn't the first time we have exprienced ghostly activities in our house, and we have experienced objects being moved and hidden quite a few times, but bodily harm is a new twist to the tale.

Cheers

- few things can cause scratches in your sleep- No fingernails, doesn't mean anything. I've had no nails and woke up with horrible scratches before.. restless nights or Sand in the sheets can cause it..

Interesting accounts going on in your house, btw.

Oh for ****'s sake....26 responses, and only ONE of you suggested he's scratching himself? Come on people, come on back to reality. He's scratching himself, either on purpose for attention, or without realizing it in his sleep. It doesn't matter if he cuts his nails, you can still scratch yourself. That's IF he's not full of ****.

Wow. Number one, this is an innocent necro-posting, not anyone being a jerk.
Number two, you are kind of out of line. And you KNOW that's messed up coming from ME of all people.

Terry: I would suggest creating a NEW topic and relate some of your experiences, and even post any pictures you might have. You'll get all sorts of responses most likely. thumbsup.gif

Speaking personally, I didn't see Neognosis' post as offensive nor out of line. Mysterious nighttime scratches are a common report, and reasonable discussion begins with the facts.

QUOTE
It doesn't matter if he cuts his nails, you can still scratch yourself.

Yes. More generally, that's what hardness means. X is harder than Y just when it is possible for X to scratch Y. Fingernails are uncontroversially harder than skin.

A sharp edge makes it easier to cut things compared to a dull edge, but has nothing to do with whether it is possible.

In the case of testing by scratching yourself consciously, or scratching someone you love consciously, it is unsurprising that the test will fail. I can touch myself or a loved one with a fresh razorblade and fail to cut them. This reflects a combination of love, manual dexterity, and sanity.

The revival post (and I fully agree with eggumby that this was innocent necroposting) describes two sleep disorders, the father's and the son's (assuming that it was not another family member or intruder - human or other animal intruder - who tossed the room). Both are worth mentioning to a healthcare professional.

Nothing in the revival post supports the claim of a paranormal event. On the contrary, the post recounts the coincidence of two unusual, but not unprecedented, and entirely natural events.

Check the mattress to make sure that there are no abnormalities in the material, such as a spring that is sticking out to the surface.
OldTimeRadio

Do you have an inner-spring mattress? If so, is it possible that there is a broken spring on your side of the bed, the jagged tip of which which pokes its way to through the cloth covering as the weight of your body depresses the mattress? This has happened to me!

Could it be sleep paralysis seizures? It is a great suggestion to have someone to monitor sleep patterns and a camera on. It might be nightmarish to watch, but it wouldn’t be such a mystery anymore.

Are there other episodes where scratches have been produced byf SP?

By the way, it might be worthwhile re-examining the case of Eleonore Zugun, the young Romanian girl investigated by Harry Price in the 1930s. Photographs show her with reportedly "demonic" scratches on her face.

Also the case of Clarita Villaneuva in Manila, Philippines, around 1950.

ok whats really weird about your experience with sctratches is that you got the 6" scratch on your leg. i got the same one on the back of my thigh on my left leg. whats also weird is that we both bite our nails and we both wake up with spontaneous scratches on our body. what i wanna know, is if somehow there is a link or an answer for the both of us... i made a comparision between you and i and we both match up with the same symptoms. if only i knew what it was sad.gif. whats also weird is that i got the 6" scratch in august and i still have a scar from it but its very faint. it also had dried blood around the edges like you said. but what i thought was the strangest thing, is that last night i dreamt about a black dog which is a symbol for the devil in some heritages and when i awoke from my dream i had scratches on my cheek and one was in the shape of a cross and a vertical line was by my eye and a horizontal line was by my mouth. i thought maybe it was pointing out something but i couldn't quite tell. the cross wasn't vertical like its supposed to be... it was on its side, if that means anything. if anyone has answers, plz reply to me. i just started looking these scratches up, and at first i didn't realize it to be paranormal until i linked everything together. hope you find a solution thumbup.gif
