Question: My father was registered blind and had opaque milky eyes, but the night before he died my husband and I were at his bedside as his eyes opened very slowly.

They were crystal clear and very bright. The next time he opened them they were back to their normal state. Can you explain?

Brenda, Elgin

Answer: many strange things happen around the time of death which don't make any sense to us in this living world.

But your father wants you to know he was letting you know that he was seeing clearly and wasn't afraid.

What you saw that night was a gift and he needed you both to see it to believe it.

I also feel that his mother is with him and he wants all his family to know that he is happy.

ohmy.gif That is pretty amazing, they both saw it - it was a physical change.

Hi Reg....This is interesting, sort of like John Edwards (crossing over) over here....I would have loved to read from those with questions, whether names and information he mentioned, did pertain to them....Makes you wonder right, if people really have these powers....

It happens a lot before people die... they seem to come round or look like they are getting better just before passing.

And yes I do believe there are people who have these senses or gifts... you just have to distinguish between the charlatans and the genuine ones.

Oh I agree that some people do have these powers, and I have also seen the changes when a person is ready to die....Right before my father's second wife, passed away, I was in the hospital room alone with her....She opened her eyes and looked past me, and said her mothers name then closed her eyes...I believe her mother was there and waiting for her...She passed away that evening...

Yes, I think she did too, Goalie.

Something similar happened when my Dad died, it was just my mom, brother and sister and me in a room, we'd been there all day - he looked up and said "it's filling up in here" - which is dad speak for, there's a lot of people. If we went to a restaurant or anywhere busy he'd say "it's filling up". Also, immediately after he died he looked 20 years younger, I don't mean because he'd been in pain and relaxed, I saw my dad asleep in his chair every day, I know what he looks like relaxed. I mean, he CHANGED. It was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen, he looked beautiful and like he was glowing. We all said the same thing.

I'm always amazed when I hear of a person dying and how their facial expressions change...My mom was very tiny, maybe 80 lbs. when she passed away...Her face was drawn, almost shrunken, and she looked so much older than what she was...I had been waiting to go to the hospital to see her, but she passed before I got there...When I went to the wake, it was like looking at my mom 20 years prior to her death...I couldn't stop remarking on it,I was in awe...Your right Reg, it was a beautiful, peaceful look, and in my own way I felt a little better seeing her like that..........

Ah bless her. It does make you feel a bit better, it makes you wonder. After he died, my sister came over from Australia for the funeral and when I went with her to see him in the Chapel of Rest - he'd "gone", it was honest to goodness like looking at his shell. Very odd. But that again was comforting as well, though it might sound odd to say, I'm glad I witnessed him like.

I agree, and great stories. In the medical field they call this "rallying" in which a patient on their death bed, all the sudden seems to wake up from a fog, and many are happy, healthy and the facial appearances can change, which often gives a family false hope. Once they rally, its only a matter of a day or less till they pass on. To me, its part of the death and dying process, and that the soul is ready to move on and death is accepted. Very interesting subject though..JN
