Hi, I've tried to look up on internet or this forum but I couldn't find the answer.

My question is what was the earlier Jews look like? I've read somewhere that the Jewish people were originaly africoid (black), instead of the lighter complexion that we see nowadays.
Is that true? If it is, does it mean Jesus (if he existed) had dark skin as well?

The early jews were born and lived in cnaan, the land where Israel now lies. If so, then they probably were slightly dark, but definitely not black.

Note: This is only my opinion, which i based on common sense.

Oh, thanks. Is that mean you think they were brown? I wonder what made them change color (if it really changed)

Actually I'm kind of confused about that. It's just that the Jewish people commonly described as a person with light complexion and hooknose.. or is it just me?

I think the original Jews looked something like Arabs. The "racial stock" probably came from the middle east and Africa north of the Sahara desert. The Sahara formed 7,300 to 5,500 years ago when some climactic shift caused the monsoonal rains to stop. This means that by the time Judaic culture began to organize there was a huge geographic barrier between Israel and the African cultures, except obviously, for Egypt where they were enslaved. Egypt was multiracial since the Nile went into Nubia. So the Jews must have some black African ancestors.

My husband, who is of Jewish descent and looks central European, had his DNA analyzed recently and learned that he is 12% Ethiopian. Pretty intriguing.

Yes Jesus would have been brown.
