I've had loads of experiences with ghosts and am a firm believer in them (although not so much orbs, etc.) but for around a year or so everything was very quiet. However, a few weeks ago I was in my kitchen with my family when I heard this massive bang from upstairs, it caused me to spill my drink all over the floor but my family didn't hear a thing. That weekend I could hear shouting and yelling from upstaris while I was in the living room with my parents, again, I asked them who it was but they didn't know what I was talking about. Also, I woke up last night at around 3.00 am with the sound of people outside (they were mumbling things but I couldn't make out what they were saying even though they sounded like they were right outside my window.) for the first time I felt scared but again I heard a loud bang and the mumbling stopped. I looked out but there was no-one there, the street was completely empty.

Also, my little cousin (she's 3) rarely goes into my room and when she does she refuses to leave my side. She's usually extremely independant and hard to keep an eye on but when she's in my room she's terrified.

I have no idea if all this ties together and it's strange because i was used to dealing with spirits/ghosts or whatever you want to call them but I would really appreciate some theories, ideas and advice.

It appears from what you say it is only you who can hear these sounds, I know that feeling well. I believe these are sounds but not occurring now these are possibly sounds from the past. I to hear noises when nobody else does and who is to say that a residual haunting has to be a spirit that is seen could it not just as easily be a sound. After all evp is an official type of proof and that is a sound only heard on tape or other recording device.
With all this in mind could it not be possible for a person who may have a psychic gift to hear sounds from the past that others do not hear.
This is only a theory that I have due to the fact that not many people hear this and therefore it is immediately defined a going crazy. It may well be a paranormal subject that should have more investigation. I personally tend to hear bangs and other noises just as I am drifting off to sleep I know a lot of people will say it is dreaming but I have a very active mind and this is usually the one time of day it is open to other things.
But as I said this is just a theory....
