Vending Machines Dispense Pot in LA

By DAISY NGUYEN
Associated Press Writer
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The city that popularized the fast food drive-thru has a new innovation: 24-hour medical marijuana vending machines.

Patients suffering from chronic pain, loss of appetite and other ailments that marijuana is said to alleviate can get their pot with a dose of convenience at the Herbal Nutrition Center, where a large machine will dole out the drug around the clock.

"Convenient access, lower prices, safety, anonymity," inventor and owner Vincent Mehdizadeh said, extolling the benefits of the machine.

But federal drug agents say the invention may need unplugging.

The whole thing was blown out of proportion by the media. They made it out to be like a Coke machine...anyone can go out and pick up a dime. But, you have to have a prescription, access code, thumb scan, and all that jazz.

Seeing that this is not Amsterdam, the authorities are going to shut it down.

Why can't they just make an inhaler or something with the active ingredient so you don't have to get all the smoke and everything with the stuff that matters? And only get it in your lungs, not those of people around you too. If it's supposed to be a medicine they should treat it as such.

A pot machine... what next? lol.

They have tried this in the form of a spray (sativex) similar to nitro spray and pill form called marinol. There are other properties in the plant however that medical benefits are gained from that are not easily synthetically replicated making it impractical.

Many medical patients also do not smoke cannabis.

Many patients ingest and or vaporize Cannabis and many also do not use in public. It really boils down to personal preference.

Yes, a vaporizor is a handy device. thumbsup.gif

You can buy a vapouriser they do as you just said. I cant remember exactly what they do but it is basically what u say. They retail for £80 pounds from a head shop. They do not put smoke into your lungs, they just heat up the pot and take all the cannabinoids out and leave "MOST" of the nasty stuff behind. So it is a lot more healthy for people who use it for medicinal purposes. I can understand people smoking "pot" at least they get something out of it, i just can not understand people who smoke only tobbaco, they are just putting smoke in there lungs "smoking fire its barbaric" smoking just to kill emselves. At least pot heads get something out of it. At least they can say i got high off it and not just smoked for nothing. "well" thats my opinion............

If you need it medically , grow it yourself .
Sweetsalem82103
But then they would probably try and get you for distributing it or some silly crap. . .the way I see it. . the stuff grows naturally in america. . . would they make dandelions illegal if people started smoking them. . .wait. ..stupid question. . .of course they would.

Regardless. its stupid that its illegal. There are plenty legal things that are worse.

Alcohol being one of them. Yet it's legal to build establishments that have the soul purpose of serving alcohol to customers all day long and they can stay open til 2 in the morning doing so. Yet I can't walk down the street or even sit on my porch and "legally" smoke a joint.

Makes lots of sense, don't it... disgust.gif

They do have things like that. I believe it's called a "vaporizer".
