Both sides are being bashed/criticised.

I hate when I'm accused of hating Christians when I'm voting for one !!

Does anyone see the irony of the fact that this was posted in a topic where the OP was a Christian bashing atheists?

I think the OP stated that they weren't xian somewhere in all of this mess.

Christians bashing atheists... Atheists bashing Christians... Both only show how unEvolved some of us still are...

Look, Christianity really is wide-spread in the US and it's not "all bad" either.

Some sects are really cool & really make people's lives better.

In Europe here I don't have an issue because we have alot more people here who don't embrace superstition/faith without much thought.

Yes i do try to tip the scales in the US to embrace agnostic thought, because i feel personally it is such an honest thought
process to admit soberly we don't know all the mysteries of the universe but we will hope/embrace science to seek out these answers. And if we are lucky enough to still be around for a while as a species all the better to get our answers.

People, there are other people(in power) trying to bring Armageddon upon us just because they believe in it >,even if they are doing it on a sub-conscious level !

I'm not into PC but I'm not into attacking people on a personal level either, most of us are just struggling good souls that have to bear alot of heartache & suffering, believer or not ! Most of us don't have it easy !

Don't you think that christians can handle their own?? If you where being attacked non stop, who backs you up Michelle?? you??.....My point is this...there are just a tiny group of people that lash out at non believers who are up against christian posts, and those are what I clas as trouble makers, the ery ones that yell out - christian bashing, when there is no real bashing going on. I rarely see a Christian claim this, it has been so long now.

When I get at anyone and I look like I am attacking...well you can be sure it has sweet nothing to do with their beliefs...it is always about their attitude <---and that is the only reason...I do it will anyone, I dont care what they follow or don't follow...if their attitude stinks, I will jump!!!

I used to notice that when I jumped at a christian for showing attitude and being a jerk....I was classed the christian basher...especially when I defended myself

BUT.............When I jumped on an non believer....no one said BOO about it...rarely did..i'll tell you one thing, I was never called an atheist basher and I have fought with many atheists on these boards......So much that some used to think I was just another christian out to get them....they where SO WRONG!!!!

This thread has become a train-wreck of insults and attacks on both sides. I will leave this thread open for now, and simply ask for everyone to get back on topic. But if the personal arguments continue, this thread will be shut down and warnings/suspensions issued where appropriate!

EmpressV, that is true. I have never been a christian. It isn't the world's only religion.

I think the criticism of atheism I opened this post with, is because many atheists have a dynamic where christianity may as well be the only religion that atheism must contend with. And an assumption that anyone challenging atheism must be a christian. They assumed I was christian for posting my comment.

But I think that atheism has a very long way before it can claim any sort of victory, when christians number less than the members of other non-christian religions. And the atheist arguments I have seen simply don't touch non-christian religions.

Though I am sorry for launching such an easily flammable thread.

Saraswati you must realise most of us Atheists/Agnostics/Pagans were Christian at one time

Most of us are from english speaking countries where Christianity abounds>not Islam/Buddhism etc.

Discussing religion always has the potential to be HIGHLY flammable> you should check out other debating sites>they are much worse.this forum is pretty mellow in comparison

There are arab speaking Atheist sites who are mostly former muslims also

No offense but given the nature of this website you have to understand that believers are going to loose the majority of the time. We discuss and debate topics here. If you can't back up your claims then your going to loose. Believers can't do that to well because let it be gods, aliens, ghosts, or zombies evidence is either rare or non existent. Not saying that believers or wrong I'm just saying its hard to win an argument with faith alone.

Now on the other hand just because a Skeptic discredits a Believer doesn't mean it is bashing...its only bashing when name calling and the like starts.

No doubt more than a few have "experienced religion" and were exposed to the extreme hypocrisy of it. I was taken from my family and raised in a catholic school. It was the "best thing" for me at that time, according to govt. This was decades ago...
What we witnessed and experienced was not in the "good book"... This is the main reason I question everything. What is seen on the surface doesn't compare to the depth of depravity some of us lived - all in the name of god.
