do you beleive in intelligent life somewere else, (ppl wayyyyyy ahead of us that can create wormholes etc.)OR primitive species like the dinosaurs, only wierd looking.
GreytMuse
I barely believe in intelligent life here.
DigitalSentinal
I care far more about wise life than intelligent life.
dest_titor1
absolutely! my guess is that every 50 or so light years their is world with some sort of life, weather intelligent or big dumb hulks of of mindless flesh or more likely, micro-organisms.
Magnatude
Yes, I believe there is likely some kind of intelligent life out there, and more likely semi-intelligent/animal life all over the cosmos.

However if it has the capacity to have visited us? I don't know.

Kyle Rajasthan
Yup, you bet; but it's my belief in intelligent life, here, on this planet that comes into doubt from time to time.
REBEL
It's a freak'n BIG universe, to think we're the only ones is about as mentally grounded to this tiny speck of dust we call earth as you can get. As to why they'd wanna come to this crazy planet, given that they're 'intelligent, superiorly evolved & or advanced' well they couldn't be too bright then unless they're just curious or here for a good laugh eh.
WonderTouched
I think so and I hope they pick me up on their next visit!
primordial
I do believe that there might be Futurists is making up our Universe or Reality.
...:::*ArorA*:::...
We all have to be optimistic and believe in some thing.
Im a strong believer in the area 55 Roswell incident
It could have not possibly been an air balloon. Would it even be worth the cover up?
The US government is hiding so much it isn't funny anymore

Oh and to add, I 100% believe in more intelligant life out there, cause if we are the best and brightest. WOW just WOW god has flunked or evolution is slow. I think we are just slow. wink2.gif

Agent. Mulder
damn well better be. cause if were the only Intelligent life forms out there, as people think...............then Holy Sheeeeot. thats a scary thought.

Intelligence is not the end result of evolution, it's arrogant to think otherwise. It may never have appeared before us and when we're gone it might never appear again. That said I personally believe intelligent life to be incredibly rare in the universe, especially compared to life in general. It's shown that the elements of life are found all over the universe, I think they might come together all the time and some of the time produce life, which some of the time goes on to be as complex and diverse as life here.

I've always felt the Universe itself to be alive and intelligent.

true. didnt really think of it like that. and if were living beings in it, maybe it created us. and its a life form itself.

Or maybe we are more like parasites (we don't really fit in with the rest of the universe)

id agree with that even more. because we seem to be destroying what we have.
a cancer among planets. killing with time
DigitalSentinal
Well, the same match that destroys the forest can also save lives. We're just lost and misguided - not naturally destructive.

No, they just got some music from voyager and love our music, their head bangers.

Now, when you say intelligent, do you mean extra terrestrial civilizations? Or an intelligent animal of some sort, like dolphins and a few select birds? There has to be intelligent life elsewhere (perhaps everywhere), and naturally I'm sure that some of these intelligent animals have evolved some sort of appendages for manipulating the outside environment (arm like limbs perhaps). And given time I'm almost positive that these animals would evolve into a civilized race after a period of time.

Will we find life elsewhere in our Solar System ?

In the abstract, yes. If you consider us to be part of the universe, as I do, then the universe is very much alive.

well, i beg to differ. life might be common, but intelligent life, that took billions of yrs to evolve.

the conditions to support certain life is so incredibly rare, and not every galaxy is habitable. if you rule out 90% of galaxies, and 90% of stars in the galaxies, and so on, the "huge" numbers get so tiny as if the chances against intelligent life are extrodinarly rare. im talking life like ours is a fluke, unless your talking about slime mold

Well said friend, that's what I'd say.

Here is my idea. This is going by Science and Astronony, mainly going by NASA.

Nasa says there is about a million Galaxies in the universe just like our Galaxy (the Milky way).

I've seen photos from Nasa of other Galaxies and they really do look like ours.

Nasa says there is only 3 types of galaxies.

Nasa says that our galaxy is actually one of the newest ones in the universe.

Nasa says there can be between 50 - 100 solar systems in each galaxy.

Usually there is one planet in each solar system that could possibly support life of some sort.

So going by Nasa's idea.......that means there is a possible 50 million planets in the universe which could support life of some sort.

So saying that these other 50 million planets was created the same way.......and going by how scientiests say evolution and life creation works.......then
hey there is really good odds that there is alot of planets with life which would resmble nearly every kind of life we have here on earth....and since our galaxy is one of the youngest ones then that would mean any life that would be found in one of these older galaxies would be more advanced than ours.

Until the andromedia galaxy finnally crashes into ours and merges the milky way galaxy with the andromedia galaxy to create a new galaxy.....then we really will never be able to get close enough to these other galaxies to study even one of their planets or solar systems. If we was not so close to the outside edge of the Milkyway galaxy then we would not even have known about the Andromedia galaxy much less any other galaxy.

um, arent there like..thousands upon thousands of stars in each galaxy? probably millions?

If humans keep developing the way we are, in a few thousand years im pretty sure we'll be able to traverse the distance between two galaxies, probably be able to go wherever we want.

But i agree with the gist of what your saying. The figure for possible intillegent life is so high that its not really a point for debate anymore.

Sure, you could rule out 90% of the Galaxies and 90% of the stars in the galaxies and get a relatively smaller number, however in my book that would be completely unfounded. I would be interested in knowing why you think we could rule so many stars out.

as of now, alien life is hypothetical at best. we have a small understanding about a universe in which we could be wrong about our concept of alien life

Indeed, we simply do not know! Thus the notion of actually putting any numbers on anything in that respect would be moot either way. We can speculate, we can extrapolate, we can hope, we can do a lot of things; the only thing we cannot is to say anything for certain original.gif
