I consider myself - and have done for a while - to be an amateur Ripperologist, namely a studier of the Jack the Ripper murders. Has anyone got any recommendations of books or anything I should hunt down for more information? I've read Patricia Cornwall's 'Portrait of a Killer:Jack the Ripper Case Closed' and wondered if there are any other books I should consider.

Thanks for the help guys!

Is "Patricia Cornwall's 'Portrait of a Killer:Jack the Ripper Case Closed'" one to avoid? iirc Ripperologists consider it's nonsense

I don't consider myself a 'Ripperologist' and I think it's nonsense. I mean in the book she says that in order to prove a case, you have to look at all options and explain/prove why they are wrong. When you've done that, to all the arguments which aren't yours, people will be able to understand why your argument is the logical choice. Cornwall does the complete opposite of what she says others must do.

I like Cornwall as a fiction writer. She needs to stay in that realm.
