Full Version: A Ghost Saved My Family

Our family was stationed overseas in the late 1990's-early 2001. We lived in a newer housing complex, which had built upon an area that had seen activity during WW 2. Many strange things happened in our home during this time like: witnessing translucent figures moving about, seeing things move by themselves, strange TV interferences, voices when no one was around, cold spots in the house, doors opening and closing on their own, lights turning on and off, lights bouncing around the house with no light source we could figure out, plus, much, much more. However, the story I wanted to share with you tonight was the time which "our ghost" saved us.

The night this happened, I had been very ill and had been sleeping out in the living room on the couch by myself. It was around 2 am in the morning and someone kept poking me, seemingly trying to wake me up. I remember telling them to stop and trying to go back to sleep. Then, he became more aggressive and started shoving me and shaking me and calling my name over and over again telling me to get up. It was a male voice with an accent.

At first, I thought it was my husband even though it didn't sound like him, so I told him to stop and leave me alone, since I was so tired and sick. However, it didn't stop him, so I reluctantly woke up. It was pitch black in the house, so dark in fact that I could not see my hand in front of my face. So, I sat up and felt my way to the light and turned it on, only to find no one there. I called my husband's name...nothing and then asked for anyone here to answer...I got no reply.

Puzzled by this, I went looking for everyone in the house to figure out who it was. My first stops were into my children's rooms. They were all present and accounted for, sleeping soundly. I then went back into our bedroom and there was my husband dead asleep. He was a heavy sleeper, so I was pretty freaked out, since I was now realizing it could not have been him. Still wanting to check, just in case, I woke him and asked him if he had just come out to the living and tried to wake me. Just as I feared, he said he had not been out there and was annoyed at me to say the least, telling me not to play games, because he had to get up soon and had not woken up all night...well, not until I had come in there.

So, now I'm completely freaked and I went back out into the living room to check the house and see if the doors were all locked. As I entered the living room area, I smelled gas. I mean it was a heavy smell of gas that I had not really noticed before. The smell was overwhelming. It was so powerful, the smell made me nauseous. I screamed andwoke everyone and opened windows and left the house.

Shaking now, I quickly called maintenance from a neighbor's and they came out and confirmed that we had a bad gas leak. Although the maintenance man's English skills weren't that good, what I could make out of what he said was that it was good thing that we called when we did our we all could have been dead from the carbon monoxide by morning or it could have exploded.

Just wanted to share that story with you all. As I feel that this ghost or whatever it was and his persistence to awaken me, saved our live's that night because we may have never woken up otherwise.

I am new here by the way, so I want to say hello to everyone and thanks for reading my story.

A good ghost story for a change, normally when you read them they are out to get some one. Thank you for telling it. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to UM, midnightangel.

It was a very touching story. I'm so glad to hear something about a "good" ghost. As JustNormal already wrote, I also think you had an encounter with your gardian angel.

Hello MidnightAngel & welcome. cool.gif

That seemed like a very genuine story. Thank you for posting it.

Apart from the disembodied voices, the experience of being woken on the couch by something doesn't tie in particularly well with your reported phenomena at the start of the story.
From that, I would deduce that it may not be connected to that phenomena.

As the others have said, it could be something else, independent of the location, and more connected with you.
You could take this to be a spirit guardian or an angel. If you did not recognise the voice, it sounds unlikely to be a deceased relative or friend.

Similar reports concern people being woken from slumber to evade harm.
One noteable one I remember concerned a passenger on a flight who heard someone telling her to fasten her seatbelt. She checked around and asked, and nobody had spoken. She put her seatbelt on shortly before the plane had a rupture in its cabin and half the side of the plane was ripped off. Had she not been wearing the belt, she probably would have died.

Have you had any other disjointed experiences that may not be connected to the location? They might point towards a guardian also.

your worst nightmare
i really enjoyed the story and i want to thank you for sharing. i am new here as well and your post was the second one i read. good ghosts stories are few and far between and this one is one of the best ive heard. im not going to be skeptic and try to disprove what you heard and felt because no one was there but you and no one can say what happened never did. id like to hear more from you if other things have happened. happy.gif

This is a really great story, MidnightAngel. I first thought maybe a relative that passed on, but you did say that the voice had an accent. I have read accounts, including a book of one person's account in their house, of the ghosts saving lives. This is a very inspiring story, thanks for sharing it.

Marvelous story! For once , some positivity. You owe a lot to that dead man, whoever he is. Well, let us hope is watching over you. God bless.

A really nice story and you tell it well. What country were you in? I had an interesting experience while in Japan, though no way as interesting as your's. It came to mind because of the WW2 connection is all.

Thanks and welcome to the forum!

Yes, I have thought that it may have been my guardian angel instead of our ghost. The reason I assumed it was our ghost was because he seemed to have a German accent and once when paranormal activity was going on in our home, we decided to ask questions as to who was in our home...the old two knocks for yes, one for no. I asked questions in both English and Italian and asked if the spirit could understand me. It acknowledged it understood both English and Italian. After many questions, we finally deduced it was a male German soldier who had died in combat nearby in WW2.

I never felt threatened by him.

We did have a lot of paranormal activity in the house. I don't attribute it all to this particular entity. In fact, I feel like he protected us because of many things that seemed to happen in the house which could have been tragic but were strangely averted. We could only shake our heads, smile and say thank you to whoever he was.

I have met my guardian angel years ago. He was a very handsome blonde male who saved me and my young son from what could have been a very bad situation and then he vanished into thin air. It very well could have been him who saved us, as I never saw who it was who tried to wake me.

Gives me goosebumps to think about it even today, but I feel protected by something or some being that I just can't explain.

Actually, I did thank him. When he came around again, I asked if it was him and to give me the old "two knocks for yes, and one for no." I told him thank you for saving us and told him that we didn't mind sharing our house with him. I'd talk to him sometimes ... he'd answer on occasion. Thought I was going mad sometimes talking to him, but I think he watched over us and sort of protected us and he seemed to want to communicate. Just wish I knew who or what he actually was.
