Lost In Her Beautiful Eyes
Question: How do I find my animal spirit guide?
Answer:

An animal totem (guide) is different than your Power Animal. It is comparable to guides that come in and out of your life as needed and your Master Guide, who is with you always.

To find them, one first must respect that they are very different than guides that carry a "human" energy. Like living animals, they are elusive and will appear when THEY feel you need to give you guidance, lessons, strength, protection.
Also, your animal spirit will choose YOU, not the other way around. That is why it is important to accept the gift of the animal that comes to you, and not discard it if it was not what your ego would have chosen. What your ego chooses may not be what is best for you.
They are also fierce protectors against negative/harmful energies/people.

To find them,a guided journeys/meditations to achieve this is the first step. For now, I suggest you relax yourself into a meditative state and picture yourself in a natural setting. Call out to the universe, to your animals that you are ready to meet them and invite them to come to you, if they will, to the place you are in.

And then, you must wait.

Watch for any sign of animals, insects, etc. Please do not disregard what you receive. Trust it! AND guard against something I see happen constantly, and that is letting ego get in the way.Do not have expectations as to what animal should come to you. Accept the spirit that makes themselves known to you, no matter how humble they may be.The animal spirits have a big problem with this. They are discarded because they are, say, a robin and not something more fashionable, like a wolf. I have experienced people meeting their guide who was a hyena and wanted a dolphin, so rejected the spirit. That is about the ego. Don't let it get in the way of a beautiful relationship and connection!

Another way the animal spirits can communicate is in the dream state. They tell me they use it quite often because their human "charges" will not quite themselves enough during the day to hear their messages. They say ask them to come to you in your dreams that night before you go to sleep. If you like, state the nature of what your seeking guidance for, and ask them to visit you in your dreams with answers. REMEMBER: Animals communicate heavy with symbolism in the dream state so record them to go over the meanings later.

They are also as different and individual as you and I are, so no animal spirit can be predictable.

I suggest you ask what guidance and strengths they are bringing to you, as well as any immediate messages.

REMEMBER: Animals communicate heavy with symbolism in the dream state so
record them to go over the meanings later.
Some animal spirits come and go as you and the circumstances change in your life, then there is your power animal. Your power animal walks with you always. In fact, you take on certain characteristics of your power animal. Some have more than one Power ANimal that walks with them, in this life and others.

Getting in touch with, and developing a connection and relationship with your animal spirit guide is just as rewarding and growth enhancing as doing the same with a "human", master or angelic spirit guide.

The differences I have experienced is that the animal guides seem to help you connect with nature for your healing and spiritual growth more so than the others. They help you to see more in the simple joys and beauty of life, the basic ones the Creator gave us we too often forget.

They seem to lend strengths and survival skills during a crisis that are particular to animal guides. They are also very loyal and they are fierce protectors. Every animal has its own talents. A study of its talents will reveal the kind of medicine, magic, and power it can help you to develop within your own life. Remember, every animal has a specialty. But, like an animal, if you ignore them and their messages for too long a time, they will find something else to do.

They will also show you your shadows and encourage you to dig them out to finally face them. When a animal guide shows up, your in for some major shift in your life.

Animal guides come when you are ready for their teachings. Knowing this, only you can decide to acknowledge and strengthen the connection.

If you do, it will truly affect your earth walk in a beautiful and inspiring way.

P.S. Tell NO ONE what your spirit animal is or you will offend it and it will leave FOREVER and you cannot get a new one. Good Luck

Yeah, I've noticed craploads of people claiming theirs is a wolf or big cat.

The way this is worded seems a little more "out there" than I'd like. I have a totem animal of sorts, but it's one I feel a kinship with in terms of characteristics, I wouldn't call it spiritual. And definite not "furry", uggghhh. But I do think it's nice to identify with nature and sink back into a natural setting; helps remind us that we, too, are animals, and no "better" than any other species.

Could you maybe explain your angle on these "spirits" a little better? What origin do they have? Are they mystical, separate entities or a result of the human psyche?

My animal is an Cicada.

My dog caught a cicada in his mouth once. He didn't eat it or kill it. He came buzzing into the bedroom (like 7am) going bRRRR. bbRRRR. BBBBBBBBBBrrrrr each time he raised his lips. Then he gave me my present while I was still half asleep in bed. The lovely, alive Buzzing cicada! Fond memory.

Animal guides are cool!

In Australia, the Aboriginal people say that when you are born your family give you a Animal Dreaming. So If your a snake or a wallaby you are not allowed to look that animal in the eyes, due to respect.
Also Ive always found very interesting is that, when you cook a meal off the land, e.g. goanna, snake, kangaroo, that your should bury the (guts) insides, under the dirt so the spirit of the animal can go free.

Respectively I dont know much of Animal Totems, my best friend Is a Maori, New Zealander, and her family have there own totems. When another child is born, the oldest of the family makes and teaches the younger members to make totems aswell.

I wouldnt know how to go about finding out what totem animal I am. But.......... I honestly believe I was Sloth in a previous life, I think I still am. lol

I have recently posted a story about the Trail of Tears ghost sighting. It was and is much more than what I could write about here. I know this is sacred ground I live on. Even though I am grateful for this spiritual awakening and know the spirits are pleased with me, I still have a hard time with everything that has happened. It has been traumatic at times. During this time I have too also found out what my animal spirit guide is which is a very powerful one. You seem to know some about Native American beliefs. Are you Native American? I am of Cherokee decent. I have been looking for someone to talk to and share these visions that I have been having and try to get some feedback. I would appreciate if you could read my post about the Trail of Tears and if you would like to discuss anything with me I would appreciate it. I am also looking for an Indian spirit guide to talk to. Do you know any? Thanks. I posted my story under 1badmotherfish but have changed it back to my original username Thank you for your time and consideration. PEACE Vicange

Why do you think this? Mine has never left me and I have always talked openly about it. Why would your guide leave you just for acknowledging him? And as for not getting a new one, you pretty much always have guides coming and going. You have temporary ones that come to guide you through a certain situation, as you yourself said.

I dont believe in that either.. Like mine hasnt left either and the lion I told everyone about before is more friendly now than he was ages ago. Before he looked at me with alittle untrust or something but now its not like that. It's like we are closer. People believe in different things I guess.

I have a question, if you could please answer.
What form will the Animal Spirit Guide present itself to you in? By this I don't mean what kind of animal, I mean will it be physical, will I be able to see it and how would I recognise it?
Thanks

In all my years delving into the paranormal/spiritualism/mediumship and the like, I have never heard such prescriptive rule-making about things that are outside our realm and therefore our control. no.gif

Our spirit guides are not so easily offended, believe me.

Crikey, if they were so upset by the things we do, they wouldn't last long, would they? blink.gif

I'm not sure if those questions were to me but I've mainly gone by what animals I've dreamt of. I havent really looked for animals during the day. And I dont dream of animals that much so when I do they stand out. And sometimes I'm the animal too.. which makes me feel like I must be connected to the animal. So it just depends on what I'm dreaming for me. They stand out.

Just as Native Americans and aboriginals have done, many others today show respect for this belief system of animal totems by ritual and ceremony.
I personally do not subscribe to the theory from the website cited above that one may not/should not speak of their power or totem animals. However, when one does discuss the subject, I believe it should come from a place of respect, if this is a source of spiritual wisdom in your life, a part of your core belief system.

When Native Americans wanted to learn their personal totem animals, young men would be sent on individual "vision quests" where they lived in solitude, fasting and chanting, dreaming and paying attention to the signs that came. Some tribes also used plants and hallucinogenic substances at these times, but more did not. When the boy returned to the tribe, he would reveal his visions to the elders, and the animal(s) that appeared to him would become his animal totem or his power animals. In many tribes the culmination of this ritual would be a renaming ceremony/rite of passage into manhood, where the animal spirit would be honored by the man by incorporating it into his own name. For these reasons, I do not support the previous claims about dire consequences if one were to speak of their animal; a long tradition to the contrary exists.

It is more about the power of intention.

Finding my Animal Totem.
I'm reaching out.... reaching across the ether...meditating with the ancient mystical red Indians of past America.
Allowing the energy to flow through the forces of the astral planes..

It's a ..... it's a...... westie!?! huh... a westie puppy?
How did this happen?

lets me just start this off by saying that some of you really need to consider if you want to know what your animal totem is, it's no joking matter.

as for myself, i am native american, and have one. but as i believe and have learned is that your animal should be something you keep to yourself....though not all believe that. its like your closest friend, but way more powerful than that. and for those who try to find theirs and comes up with nothing, then you are not ready yet to know, sorry but everyone comes into their "awakening" at their own pace.

now for the situation on how you will know when you see your animal......
it's different for everyone, it could be at a park, the zoo even, through medatation, or in your dreams. in fact there are countless ways to be contacted by your totem. but the feeling you aquire is generaly the same, when i found mine it was a deep conection to everything around me, a personal insight as to how the world works. really, what it is to sum it up, is that you find a missing link that conects you to everything around you. why do you think native americans are so intuned to nature?

anyway, i hope this helps some and if there are any questions, feel free to ask. and i would appreciate it if you wouldn't joke around about this situation (Bill Hill) this is definatly no joking matter. some believe you don't really live until you are complete.

hey CrOM_94,
the quiz, which i believe is inacurate, if you choose to believe did not forget about your sense of humor or loyalty. look at the wolf, it covers both, they are loyal to there pack, having a deep stong seeded relationship with each other. and for your humor, well as all members of the canine genus, they have an inate streak for playfulness....there's always more to an animal then what a "quiz" will tell you. good luck
Bill Hill

I like all nature and animals. I think some people just feel the need to pick a favorite and try and form some kind of affinity...Human nature I guess..
Pick a 'cool' animal...add some imagination and pretend it picked you. geek.gif
Whatever gets you through the night, it's alright.
Kazahel
Maybe for some. For me though.. I never picked a crocodile for example... like I didnt ever think about crocodiles or was a 'fan' of them you know.. But one night just out of the blue I dreamt I was a crocodile swimming slowly in a murky river.. and I was stalking a human who was just getting out of the water(he was about ankle deep)and he was crawling to get out. Anyway I very quickly took him in my teeth which was a really weird experience.. I dragged him back into the water and then I did a death roll.. and as I did it I could see all my teeth and it was weird because my nose was so long.

Anyway then I knew I needed bigger teeth to eat with because I wasnt eating him properly. So I put my feet together and flicked them to make a tail and I shifted into a great white shark. My mouth was very large and it was bizarre and I saw a woman starting to get out of the water(she was near a jetty/the water changed from river to deeper blue ocean)and I just swam up and started to eat her legs. I thrashed my head around to loosen her bones from my teeth because they got stuck. And the water was going through my gills and it was so strange. Blood was everywhere and it was like she was a fleshy water bomb. That's what I mainly remember thinking as I was chewing on her. That and how it was a bummer my teeth got stuck. So I think I know why they thrash their heads. lol

Anyway.. so I wasnt a fan of crocodile or shark at that stage.. like I didnt pick them.. I just found myself dreaming of them and I felt I really understood how they both worked(guides of some sort). So I became more interested in those creatuers after the fact I had dreamt of them. But I would never of guessed I would dream of crocodile hey.. it never crossed my mind to even try to. But when I was crocodile, growing better teeth did cross my mind and thats why I shifted to shark. So even shifting to shark was only because of the dream and how it flowed... it wasnt because I loved sharks.

Also before the crocodile/shark dream I was having the odd dream of swimming with a huge shark. I had it even bump its nose against my side once when I was trying to get out of the water. I thought it was trying to eat me but now I figure it was just saying hello.
CallSignWolf

You could also get this result:
For 57,89 % you are: You are...A BEAR! You're laid back, rather easygoing, and compassionate. You are rather unorganized, like to eat, and may be overweight. You cry over trivial matters, often, but are also there when a friend needs a laugh.

Or even this one:
For 5,26 % you are: You are...AN EAGLE! You're serious, concentrated, calculating, and judging. You are a natural born leader, and can be compassionate towards close friends. You may come off rather bossy to some.

Or even this one:
For 15,79 % you are: You are...A DEER! You're artistic, creative, very compassionate, gentle, and kind. You like to delve into very complicated artistic activities such as drawing, sketching, or playing music. You're always there when a friend needs you.

all of the above fits me.
funnily enough my power animal happens to be a black wolf with bright golden yellow eyes.

I have a question for anyone who has knowledge of the animal spirit guides.

Is it possible for a spirit guide to be a pet that passed on?

At first I believed my ASG was a cat...not one in particular just cats in general because of the way they made me feel and the strength that I had when I was around one.
However after my cat passed she came to me, and still does when I need her most. Could she be my ASG?
If you need some more info on the relationship I had with her:

She was born around the same time as I was, I got her when I was 1.
She lived with me all my life until she passed when I was 16.
She came to me in a very emotional and powerful dream and communicated with me.
She has done so several other times.

I also still have the feeling of being complete and of strength and happiness when I am around cats.

neat! i like the Akasa, i wouldn't of thought naming a pet that. i believe our pets after they go, come back to visit us when we are upset. just like our loved ones do after they pass.
