First I should probably tell you that both of my grandparents on my Dads side died in the house we live in.

No reason to be scared. Is this the first time you've ever experienced anything like this before?
Sort of. I've never seen something so clear. Let me explain:
When I was younger and I was sleeping in my own room by myself for the first time. Not on the very first night but in the early weeks. One night I was lying in my bed and I had a cold so I sat up to get a tissue and I thought I saw someone standing in the doorway out of the corner of my eye but I just saw a shape sort of, like, I couldn't say for sure it was a person, I just assumed it was. I've dimissed this experience mainly because of my state of mind at the time; very scared and very on edge.
I've never gotten over my fear of the dark.
Throughout my life I have seen (out of the corner of my eye) someone walk past our kitchen window. I often expect someone to come in the back door just after I see this, under the impression that a member of my family is on their way in but a lot of the time no one comes and it turns out that no one was there. My mum said this has happened to her too. She's says it would be nice to think that my grandparents are looking over us especially since they never knew me.
With both of them it's never a clear image, the two times with the arms it has been a clear image of an arm.

The action of pulling drapes , is a normal action. Probably one where you would have expected someone to do it. Ok that is vague. Let me explain some things. First if it is a spirit it would be a haunting. Which would mean that the drapes would have had to exist previous to the time that the spirit existed. Why this is of note is the fact that if for example someone sees a ghost flying , it would be walking stairs that were there but are gone now. Same idea for doors that no longer exist make the ghost look like it is walking through walls.
Why this is important to note is because no haunting reacts with the external world. For example no 'dead guy' will appear walk up and ask for a light while engaging in a communication about the present state of the new orleans relief fund and ask if Obama is by your opinion a good pick.
so, if you are sure it was reacting to the external world in anyway. Then it is pretty much not likely a spirit. This leads one to two possibilities. Is it a figment of the imagination? which would explain why the vision can interact with the external world or is it something different.
since figment of imagination as it is , is easy to rationalize, we can play into the other thing. I vaguely remember stories about arms reaching out of nowhere, and touching people, also people that report being grabbed (the sense of being grabbed) by something that is not there. Ironically aside from seeing the arms, it seems that this is quite similar , only that you didn't sense contact.
i think what you have to do is, rationalize who or what it can be. Since the mind and its senses are highly suggestive. It can be that something witness by your eyes or via your intellect remains unsolved. seeing as how we subversively withhold the greater sources of our information and it creeps out in imagery , say dreams, it may be something that you have not brought to the conscious self but you are trying to remind or allow the conscious self in on.
The curtains are only 14 years old and I don't think anyone who would've touched them in those years has died. Plus my brothers car isn't very old. So I guess it can't be a spirit.
Maybe I'm starting to see things.
Thanks for your replies they've been helpful.
