Ok I know these games are old by gaming standards but i still want to know which elder scrolls game you like better- Morrowind or Oblivion?
Oblivion has it's nice touches, be it the amazing graphics or the sprawling landscapes, the awesome combat or the sturdy story. But that's where it ends. Morrowind, in comparison, has alien landscapes, an AWESOME story, and many more quests.
Oblivion-
Pros-Graphics,Combat,Dialog
Cons-Landscapes get repetitive, game tells you where to go for EVERYTHING, you can't go dungeon crawling for loot, TOO realistic, loading screens, cant sell stolen items, etc.
Morrowind
Pros- Detailed landscapes, very different looking, rivalries, daedric and dwenmer ruins, expansions, the guy(or girl cant remember) testing out the jumping potion lol
Cons-sketchy graphics, its hard to get going at low levels, easy to get lost, and not that much more
these are just a few of the differences, please comment on wich is better and why please. I'm bored...
ah another thing about morrowind is the fact that it's so damn depressing looking...even during the day

Oblivion
Pro's:
No strange mushrooms like in Morrowind, diverse climates, better combat, better clothing, developer implemented horses and most importantly, NO CLIFF RACERS.
Con's:
Cliche story, nearly impossible to make even a semi-attractive face at character creation, same irritating voice actors from the last game, no Werewolves, which is just a cardinal sin.
Morrowind
Pro's:
Amazing story, more freedom than it's sequel, pretty awesome expansions, Werewolves, Bloodmoon, Bloodmoon, Bloodmoon, Bloodmoon, Bloodmoon, Bloodmoon.
Con's:
Terrain can be tedious, character models and clothing and textures were horrendous, Cliff Racers were just relentless and in the sky every 10 feet, being called "Outlander" got old after awhile, horrible voice actors.

I got Morrowind a while ago after already completing Oblivion, now I don't know why but I just can't get in to it.

You get the GOTY edition of Morrowind? If so, try the Bloodmoon expansion. That's got to be the best expansion of the Elderscrolls series. Beats the hell out of Shimmering Isles for Oblivion.

Am I the only one who noticed that the arrow system in Morrowind is flawed? I can never seem to get any of my arrows to hit the cliff racers.

I for one love oblivion, but morrowind was awesome too.
But for one:
1 you can make a attractive face on oblivion but the only way to do that is to be on the younger side of the scale
2 you can sell your stolen goods they have fencers in the game for the theives guild, or even before you get to the theives guild there is a guy in the imperial city that will buy the stuff starts with an r i think
3 you can dungeon dive they even have aspecial potion for it in the game it has to do with the nirnroot quest there are alot of places to discover
4 there are ruins they are called ayleid ruins and all of them are veritable treasure troves
that is all try playing the game more thouroughly

Morrowind is better for hardcore elder scrolls fans and oblivion is better for people who want a pretty game with amazing graphics.

Morrowind $hits on Oblivion when you break it down to story and gameplay. Oblivion is graphically better but seriously its RPG for dummies.
But Morrowind is outdated I cannot play it without the graphical mods and some gameplay mods. Morrowind gameplay is somewhat broken when you get to higher levels and your just Godlike compared to the other NPC's
Oblivion has good gameplay mechanics if you know what your doing a lot of people say the leveling system is broken, its true but at the same time not true, the only problem with the leveling system is all enemy npc level with you and if you did not level your skills properly you will get owned later in the game. Another problem with the enemy npc they all get shiny brand new deadric armor in later levels making deadric items somewhat cheap instead of rare item you have to work hard to get.

god i miss morrowind, oblivion was too dumbed down. I loved the start of morrowind *gets off boat* now what the hell do i do?
i hate having my hand held through a game. i hate level scaled creatures/npcs/loot, that killed oblivion for me. part of the great thing morrowind had, was that early in the game you could get your as kicked if you went to certain areas where the monsters were high leveled

If it's not D&D it's RPG for dummies... Real RP pros play on table tops not monitors.
Anyway I liked Oblivion more simply because at higher levels the game does become quite challenging compared to Morrowind... I think I should reinstall Oblivion I feel like playing it now.

Here's what I disliked about Oblivion:
-Every guild quest seem to take a part in the plot of the final quest. I wished there were more gerneric quests like: "Hunt down person" or "Collect debt money" Alot of things you would see in Morrowind.
-They took away alot of things since Morrowind: Spears, Crossbows, Unarmored, Levatation, etc. Felt like there's less freedom and creativity in the game.
-Blocking system made the game alot easier. (You can gain levels by holding block against a rat all day)
-Cant attack on horses!
-Persuasion system makes speechcraft skill usless.
-Item-Level system (What Super Pancake said)
What I dont like Morrowind:
-Journal system was hard to follow quests.
-Block was useless unless you have high Block skill.
-Mana and Fatigue didnt regenerate like it does in Oblivion.
-Easy to get lost if you're not careful.
-No mountable creatures (like Horses)
-Fighting animation is horrible.
So basically, I see Oblivion and Morrowind as two seperate games. Morrowind: More focused on geeky character building (like Neverwinter Nights!) Oblivion: More focused on improved visuals and gameplay to compete against next-gen competitors.

getting lost was one of my favorite things in morrowind. at times it really felt like you were in the middle of nowhere, I never felt that in oblivion

For me Morrowind was without a doubt the best one.
Oblivion was dumbed down to the point of being boring and the creature scaling was awful.
There was no levitation/ flying in oblivion and the choice of character options was more limited. The graphics admittedly were a hundred times better but the sound wasnt nearly as good. The scenery although aesthetically please was boring in comparison to the many different areas of morrowind.
Too many things made Oblivion just dumbed down like the pointer to where you had to go, the easy quests and the level scaling.
The biggest problem with OPblivion in my opinion was its lousy story. What happened to the people who wrote Morrowind? That story was phenominal.
