My connection is too slow and I don't have time enough this morning for viewing all the pages...

...but has somebody already posted something about the MothMan???

I saw the movie a few months ago. Even I found it bad (don't like Richard Gere, this guy sucks and he got married with Cindy Crawford!), the facts it was inspired by were very interesting.
Loonboy
Funny you should mention it, but I saw it the other day and thought exactly the same thing as you. The film sucked big time, but the story is pretty creepy.
Ronin6th
Yeah I was very troubled especially by the drawings and witnesses about the Mothman.

Concerning my question...I'm surprised that nobody has already told something about it here....

Many thanks Chris!

This strange story is really one of the weirdest for me!  :o

I would like to see some drawings of him...like those of the movie...
cat_from_heaven
Can anyone tell what this creature does exactly?? Is he dangerous or is it just there to freak people out or has it killed before??
Althalus
All that the mothman has been reported to do is scare people like the old lady and the four in the car, it has never been reported t have killed anything
SpaceyKC
I saw the movie and read the stories,  and it seems to me that the MOTHMAN is a portent for impending danger,  IF you know how to read the signs!   :s1
cat_from_heaven
ok?So he hasn't done anything but freak people out? What is the harm in a harmless creature? :oAlthough we don't know that for sure do we???
Anichka
So far the mothman hasn't done anything to us humans. People say after they see him bad things happen like someone dies or some sort of tragedy. That is what i have read about the mothman.
cat_from_heaven
Well then they are all coincidence then cause unless of caurse he touches you nothing can change death and bad luck. He might curse people but that does not mean that that is what it is.
I don't think that he has anything to do with bad stuff.

I had read a story some time ago, from a lady that interviewed several key witnesses to this, and the thing that I do remember from her article was that the conclusion she had come to, was that he/it actually is the bearer of bad things, but also tries to stop them from taking place. It was a feeling that she had, from a person's retelling of the events. I am scatterbrained right now, but I will see if I can get that article, it has been years.... wink.gif

Man..watchin the movie ads i had the impression that he was some sort of
weerdo who had some psychic connection with moths. Or foretold of tragedy. And that he only talked to children.

I went surfing for the Mothman myself came out abit dissapointed.

Oh well, hes still pretty cool-looking.Theres pictures of him on the link.

I recently saw 'The Mothman Prophecies' for the first time, and my initial feelings were the same as others in this thread, the film wasn't particularly the best, but the story is very interesting.

I always assumed that the Mothman was actually some sort of cryptid, but now I tend to think that the 'Mothman' is less of an animal, and more of a 'manifestation', perhaps almost a spiritual entity rather than a physical, living breathing creature.

What's interesting is the association of the 'Mothman' with disasters around the world, and not just at Point Pleasant. Far from being a one-off story, it seems that reports of phenomena relating to 'Mothmen' are more common and widespread than I initially thought. It seems that there is a lot more to this mystery than a few people seeing a strange creature with glowing red eyes on their way home in the dark one night.

Ah the moth man was initially spotted in my home town of Clendenin, West Virginia. I think they were drinkin too much - but I do wish my town would use the film to make money cause they need it! alien.gif

the book says its based on the movie, but its like the facts behind the story, witnesses and stuff, it's actually quite interesting, makes the movie a lot creepier O_o

I read the book The Mothman Prophecies by John Keel back in 1975. For two decades hardly anyone was aware of this strange event. Then, after the movie came out, Mothman sightings began pouring out of the woodwork.

Are people really that easily influence by the media? huh.gif

That was a rhetorical question. wink2.gif

I first read about the mothman years ago when i was beginning a moth collection and was looking around for interesting things about them...it seems to me that i read somewhere that the mothman was not te "bringer" of the misfortune but came before it as a warning to children, i remember reading that he was thought of as a protector of children..to heck with the adults lol.... i also remember reading that as far back as world war 1 and earlier there were reports that match his profile...all seems kinda weird and i always listen for eerie noises at night lol

The things called by people " mothmen " or " owlmen " is actually a species of alien beings here on earth. Some say they live in underground caverns. I dont know if they fly along in airships or something like that..But i almost know for sure they are a type of aliens.

Hello Paula by the way! original.gif

If I ran in to a mothman, I would be pretty scared let me tell you! Are there any recent "sightings" of the mothman/owlman?
BuhiBuhi-Kun
In the movie didn't it say that the "mothman" was actually comprised of a group of some kind malicious beings that were able to see a little farther into the future than humans. Also they apeared in humanoid form- The strange Asian guy/thing that was mystified by a mechanical pencil....?? I'd like to have a chat with those beings....
QueenOfYourNightmares
What would you ask it??? if you could ask 1 ?...
and thanx for the welcome original.gif thumbsup.gif

My mother claims to have seen the mothman though she wasn't actually sure what it was but when she heard about it she started wanting to find out the facts the description of the mothman himself is what gets her, she says that what she seen as a child was black and jumped out of the trees and above her so fast that she wasn't really able to catch it she thinks maybe she can't remember it all because she was so afraid and children tend to block scary things out of their memory for the better of things, well we still aren't sure, but she has been reading up on the book, the one that the movie was loosely loosely based off of the book is all facts from the reporter that stuff in the movie was mostly made up and they barely used the facts, anyway I believe her and I still would like to find out what she saw on that day.
man_in_mudboots
if there are no photos, i would think more people would make them.....and judging from that picture of that vague "black, scribbly, heart-shaped..... thing" on the bottom of page 1 it would be fairly easy to rigg up......

I think it's real, but it seems to be more of a demonic being than an animal. It's just too strange to be something natural.
