This video has been around for quite a while now, but that's how it is in a lot of places. It's pretty sad.. one of the last publicly acceptable bigotries.
(Maybe anti-theism is to an extent.. but let's just say there's hardly anywhere in the world where you'd be killed for railing on atheism.)

There's a post saying Dawkin hates religion there. There's a huge divide between thinking something is incorrect and hating it. I guess he's the most public atheist around at the moment so it's easy for them to transplant the stereotype of a hateful atheist onto him.
