I recently uncovered a documentary by BBC entitled Tales of the Jungle. The documentary brings strong criticisms to the works & philosophy of Carlos Castaneda. Even claiming that he was responsible for 5 suicides of his closes female students. I have always been a admire of his work and philosophy. His work has always left me in complete awe. Perhaps its in my own nature never to follow any one philosophy into a ritual dogma. You be the judge. The complete doc can be viewed on youtube.

El Gato Negro:

Thats only 10 min of the documentary.

Here is the whole one hour video: http://www.guba.com/watch/2000937300?durat...577bbf80a027e7e

To me this documentary only strengthen the probability that his story was real or at least based on real events, as the indian called Don Juan is identified, and his family verifies what he claimed and so on.

As far I remember, there were never any evidence of him being responsible for the death of these women or that they ever even were found but its been a while since I saw the video - but I'm sure he wasnt responsible at least.

This video only proves to me how easily people are misled by believing what they desire to believe.

We are supposedly mature but yet so gullible.

If you're interested in this and want background from a real "insider" then read Amy Wallace's book, THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE: My Life with Carlos Castaneda. It tells of her life as a member of his inner circle, and her experiences as a follower then as his girlfriend up until his death. Gives the other side of the story, insights into the mystery man.

You can read the reviews and learn more about the book here:

The sad part of the story is that people will still believe it was true and already as we see, try to make money out of it by writing books and making all kinds of claims .

Some people seem to need to believe fantasy and shy away from reality

Castaneda is a proven fraud by both AIM (The American Indian Movement) and the organization formed by Dr. Al Caroll (Apache) NAFPS (New Age Frauds and Plastic Shaman).

That seems to be a paradox of all people who seek "knowledge". Take Søren Kierkegaard for example. He wrote some of the most profound books of modern Christianity, yet he was a alcoholic and visited brothels frequently. It seems the path to knowledge takes you either to enlightenment or madness.
