Thanks Hairston, this may be a good alternative.

tongue.gif I was once asked " If you could invite any famous people to your house for a dinner party who would it be?" I answered God and Richard Dawkins. I think that would be the greatest dinner conversation ever!

Here are the Video Google links, an hour each.

Part 1

Part 2

I watched the first part, and it's brilliant....I need to find time to watch part 2.

Hitchens would be amazing to drink with, but damn, he drinks like a fish!

If you know with out a doubt that there is no afterlife aren't you going to enjoy the now and have a few! wacko.gif

Oh yes, but, by his own admission he says his daily intake of alcohol is enough to " kill or stun the average mule" laugh.gif

I noticed this with Hitchen's too . I wonder what drives him to smoke and drink like a fish ?

He's destroying his brain cells, he will be a mumbling, incoherent fool if he keeps it up, just like the brain damaged baby Bush. (or is it low IQ ? probably both, huh ?)

Having watched Hitchens constantly tear people apart in debates, I dont think his habbits have had much effect on him.
TooFarGone
^ Not at all. He recently said he gave up smoking, after having an epiphiny of sorts. He also said he drinks to make others seem more interesting, as he is afraid of being bored laugh.gif

He's a functioning drunk. He has put out a vast body of work and has done more interviews and debates then most...it's certainly not hindering him that much.

True but never say never.

There still is a reason that people drink/smoke like that and I don't think it's all enjoyment.

It seems he is consumed by anger or maybe something very tragic happened in his personal life (ya I know like all of us).

But it doesn't make a good impression, but at least he's honest & open about it, not a closet alcoholic just a bit colic.......... blush.gif

Has anyone ever noticed that Revelations always seemed to play more into the whole religion thing more than any other book that's been put out or "so-called" wrote to inspire churches and followers? I've never been one to go to church a lot but if I had to call it, then I'd say when the end of days does come, it'll be mortals verses immortals. Or better yet, the human race going against hell and all it's fury. Heaven in the Greek and Roman myths was known as Olympus and the Gods were never kind to the mortals below, right? Kind of makes you wonder about everything else. Sure there's gotta be a heaven though if there's most deffently a hell. Or at least I hope so.

I think Allister Mcgrath was one of the few that was on the same level as Hitchins in a debate (and seemed to know more). The bad thing is, Hitchins doesnt know religion very well (and its apparent in his debates as he has said some seriously flawed things) but he makes everything he says sound so good. This is how he seems to win debates.

Whats wrong with liking to drink alot? If there is a reason for it, it might be because there's a war going on between fundamentalism and civilisation that civilisation probably is going to lose.

Since God does not exist I would invite Hitchens and the Pope pump them full of booze then sit back with a bag of popcorn and observe.

the reasoning for hitchins drinking reminds me of a sammy davis jr quote

"Alcohol gives you infinite patience for stupidity. "

Belle.
Hmmm I am quite enamoured with Christophers Hitchens (or perhaps just his evil wit). "God is not great: How religion poisons everything" was a very amusing read.
