Lo',
Just thought I'd post something for once. I've been into the whole spontaneous combustion thing lately. I've been doing some research and I've come up with some theories. One is that if you consumed enough alchohol, or if you were fat enough, your skin would become saturated or insulated with fat and alchohol. If you could ignite the skin with some kind of charge (because it's very likely that no one is going to be sticking a flame under there skin trying to set themselves on fire) then it could possibly catch fire. The theory might be plossible except for the fact that most victims were burnt from the inside out. That's where a theory from an associate of mine comes in. He says that it's possible for the mitochandrea in your cells to somehow implode due to excessive storing because, as he put it, the mitochandrea are the power houses of the cell.

If you have anything you want to add to that or any coments, please, PM me or post a comment.

Another SHC speculation is that a cosmic ray striking head-on an atomic nucleus within the body might spark some type of chain reaction.

I can remember years ago my Dad used to get these magazines that you bought one every two weeks and got a 'free' binder to put them in after you'd spent about £50,000 getting the magazines.

There was one issue on SHC and it scared me to death when I was younger, I don't have much to offer to this thread only that most of the pictures just were of just a pair of legs (below the knee) with loads of ash etc where the body would be...and most of the pictures were of the remains near a fire place.

I'm going to go and do a bit of research myself now yes.gif

Fire Parasites!

Here is a link to wiki that was written by a forensic biologist that may help this phenomenon became a little clearer.
Warning the link does contain pictures of a graphic nature. original.gif

Yeah, but then how do the parasites combust?

A good book that I recommend, "A Cabinet of Medical Curiosities" by Jan Bondeson, has a great section about Spontaneous Human Combustion.

Good luck with the research. Tell me if you find anything.

Was that magazine called the Skeptical Inquirer? If it was, I someone posted a great link to an issue of that magazine that was very helpful for me: http://wiki.benecke.com/index.php?title=19...uman_Combustion
