Full Version: What do you conceive Heaven to be like?

To believers in a Heaven, what do you think it would actually be like?

Many say that it is a place of absolute happiness, that sadness and anger is nonexistant. But that is a bit hard to conceive if you would expect Heaven to be something to the likes of a physical world as our own. Absolute happiness sounds more like a state of semi-consciousness rather than full consciousness. To consider absolute happiness I would think that instead of Heaven being a place where you can freely travel about and see your friends, it would resemble something such as the idea that when you die, you return to the earth; you become part of the earth. This would not appeal to me at all, because it is like not existing at all.

Statistics show that a person without friends, or without any close relationships with other human beings, remains unhappy no matter how much he/she achieves or has. If Heaven is a social environment, what happens when the really shy person goes to Heaven, and does not have or gain any relationships? Some might say that he/she had a chemical imbalance in his brain while in his earthly body, but we all do, and that is what makes us who we are. To think that there is a standard balance that we would all return to when we died, would make us all rather boring and the same. Many would say that your relationship with "God" would be enough, but again that makes me think of a semi-conscious state of extistance.

If a supernatural Heaven existed, the only scenarios of existance that I can conceive would be a social existance with all emotions intact, or one of semi-existance and altered consciousness. Under the assumption that this new existance would be eternal, I prefer the former, even though I would most likely be unhappy.

So what do you think?

Sorry for my lame ol' patent answer, but if there were an afterlife and I were to go to heaven it would be filled with my crazy friends, endless booze and drugs, and the ****iest women who ever lived and died.

If I were truly a good man while I lived then why wouldn't such a heaven be awaiting me?

Seriously.

I don't know what heaven will be like. The Bible uses a few analogies and description to try and get us to understand it, but they are only analogies and do not really tell the whole story. Heaven is a spiritual place. We will have spiritual bodies. A new creation, new heavens and new earth. How can we say what it will be like? A physical being such as humans cannot fathom a spiritual place such as heaven. But I do know that it will be a good place to be, because my creator will be there.

I honestly can't go deeper into it, because we just don't know. Jesus uses a party as an analogy where there is feasting and laughing and merry-making, but it is only an analogy (a parable, even) so we can't use that to give specifics about heaven.

Sorry but according to Christ we will have our bodies back.

According to the LDS faith you will be able to visit all of your friends including the ones that didn't make it.

You will also find that some of your worse enemies on earth were your best friends before life, MAYBE.

Heaven and Hell refer at once to the physical as well as spiritual imo.
There is Hell on earth as experienced by many and also Heaven on earth often not recognized as such. An afterlife Heaven would be far from a physical life and unimaginable--a different dimension probably. I don't think there is a Hell as described by some religions but just not being a part of an afterlife and being reincarnated repeatedly into bad situations would be a hell of a kind.

First to contemplate the idea of heaven, you must know the meaning of Sin.

Sin is the harming of another's well-being. Living in a time where your mere exsistence is powering a machine proving to be annihilating all other life on the planet seems to be one whopper of a sin. Do yourself a favour, review your lifestyle. After considering the reality of the situation, consider the fact that after living a life so conveniently packaged in plastics and airplanes, your being is ready for eternal afterlife bliss. Consciously Without making any relevant changes to it, you honestly expect to attain the ultimate state of being? Tell me if you've ever hunted for the purpose of sport. devil.gif

The human brain is at the highest state of natural evolution in the fact that we are able to contemplate our exsistence and the potential of post-death conscience, so there's no denying the idea this life is significant to really project an individual's true will.

My good Sir or Madame, of any generation, certainly unless some relevant thought has been put into how your being is effecting the being of all other life around you, do YOU consider yourself worthy of a "heaven" to be amongst God 's finest creations?

SURELY THOSE WHO HAVE LED THE MASSES OVER THE PAST MILLENIA MUST CONSIDER THEMSELVES WORTHY OF ETERNAL BLISS happy.gif

It's not a difficult concept, I believe the planet earth is but a stage set to test your ability to handle the freewill of the human advantage(the human brain) and how you the individual will act with the rest of life's vast spectrum lesser than mankind ("ew a spider KILL IT")

BUT! we live in a time where its up to the masses to make changes... Not possible or relevant you say? well, remember it all boils down to YOUR own spirit and how much you've done to stray from the swarm. IF not , consider the idea of re-incarnation and the fact that God has observed your much joy in being another of the vast population...Do you deserve to be among those true individuals who have learned the rights of the universe? or are you going to decide to take the easy route through life and just be another so to say "brick in the wall."

For none is it too late, for those that have already lived their complete lives, Repetence and acknowledgement will be in favour of deciding your fate, my idea is if you've lived you'll be judged and probably sentenced to have to re-live lives (deja vu) ( UNLESS you've actively commited true sin, then consider yourself parasite material.)

For those who STILL have years ahead of them, action MUST be taken to do your part. If you dont know what kind of action is enough to be considered relevant, go consult your nearest greenpeace outlet.

It's been an age old belief to value the rights to life all others (aside from humans) have on this planet

And to think of the centuries old debauchery that has become of mankind. Surely under the lengthy watchful eye of the vatican this has become of God's planet "earth."

People it's far beyond "being kind to thy neighbour" at this point. I feel the message has drasticly changed.

As far as what heaven would be like. Well, I think it's an earned state of being only conceivable by truely proving yourself worthy to be one with God and have surpassed judgement. I think heaven is not a place to go or anything, I believe it to be a level of conscience. I think at this level of being, you are God itself manifested into your own individual characteristics. In my opinion.
