with the approach or resistance 2 on the horizon I was wondering what you all think of the resistance series?

and do you think resistance 2 will ever live up to hype it's getting?

I think Resistance: Fall of man was awesome I beat it once on medium and started replaying it on hard for the weapons but I don't know if I will play through again soon since I just beat it. I haven't played online yet actually I haven't played any online on my ps3 yet I bought it 2 weeks ago. I'm sure Resistance 2 will be sweet and I can't wait for it. I also can't wait for Haze,GTA4,Killzone 2,Legend of Spyro 3,Metal Gear Solid 4 and Wardevil:Enigma all ps3 exclusives aside from GTA. I'm excited to see how much damage the Chimera do to the U.S. and want to see the Cloven too.

Just another reason for me to spring for ps3, that and all the cool new feautres home will provide in games (warhawk pre game strat room, walking through levels in Resistance2///)

Resistance was pretty average if we compare it with other fps's out there.
It was a great launch game,yes but a pretty average game.It needed some more polishing.
Resistance 2 looks good though,hope Insomniac won't rush it this time round.

It's coming out in the Autumn of this year. It'll take place after the Chimera launch an invasion of the North America continent. The game begins with the cutscene that ended the last game and the first mission is in Iceland and from there you progress to the mainland.

Going by the ships, I think we'll find out the Chimera are capable of Space-Travel and that they've been on Earth for a long time, because the towers were excavated.

My own personal theory is that they were the dominant species until the Ice Age eneded (they are suited to the cold climate) and went into hiding until now.

I'm so stoked for this game! I need it now!

It will likely be more of the same, slightly improved graphics/physics etc. In terms of game play I wouldn't expect to much since they are using the same engine from the first game.

I loved the first one. This one looks even better. The fact that it has 2 campaigns is awesome. I just hope they don't both end up being short. The first game was pretty long, especially by today's poor standards. Now if ony I could afford a PS3...

What other FPS? Turok?DArkness?FEAR?Gears of war? HAlo?Cod4? Timeshift? Unreal 3? the club? Bioshock? (most of which came out of resistance) Compared to those its hardly average. most recently COD4 is considered the beest game of 2007, and resistance has just as good if not better graphics. Tho the multiplayer might not be as indepth as cod4, its certainly harder and more challenging. COD4 was so easy to get through the ranks and win matches, almost too easy.

The campaign is alot more challenging and story driven the cod4,timeshift, turok, halo,club, unreal... only the darkness and bioshock might have a better story line. I remember when resistance and gears came out, most mags gave the edge to resistance citing graphics and story where better. I dont remember anyhting about which engine is being used, but its been talked aobut before-you can squeeke 40% more juice out of the ps3s computing power via free updates over the network. wheter it is the same awesome engine, the ps3s ability to use it is always gonna be growing.

so i dont know how it can be considerd average at all. it easily contends with all other next gen fps and is a standard for all future next gen fps. And the sequel is going to be positively insane! with the previously mentioned multi campaign, co-op campaigns, massive online battles, fighting across america-defending the homeland.

but since most fans nowadays are cheaper and dont wanna spring for the ps3, thus hindering sales of resistance 2, insomniac will probally option it to 360 ssoo all those guys can then enjoy it

online is awesome and very challenging, if ur bored with campaign try it out. the 40 player battles are awesome. and if u got $7 or so on ur PSN acount, spring for the expansion packs. keep in mind the more u accomplish in campaign the more u unlock in multiplayer


they also came out in russia first, which is a cold climate...good theory certainly sounds possible...i hope its not as simple and doesnt turn out like war of the worlds where all their technology has been in the ground for X amount of years and they come back to take over the earth. but i think Game informer said that not everything will be answerd in this game, hinting at a third.

Yeh, I think it was always planned to be a series of 3 games. Kind of like Halo, only better.

Although I really don't see why the Chimera would attack the U.S, they would try and take back Britain, they wouldn't just leave us to build up strength. By taking out the rest of the world they could cripple the U.S economically, therefore they would not need to fight a war. Oh well, it's only a game.

The first FPS that comes to mind that completely smashes this game graphically is Crysis for the PC.

Unreal 3 looks at least as good if not better the Resistance did on PS3 and PC.

Bioshock on PC looks better the Resistance.

Fact is the first game did nothing different that hasn't been done before. It also doesn't live up to the potential of the PS3.

FPS games BELONG on PC and PC only they lick dick on consoles.

Unreal3 has a cartoonish/ futuristic look to it, it lacks many of the fine details such as i dunno, scratches on signs or weapons, or lighting effects, shadowing. i didnt notice any real accurate detail in the envirnments in unreal3, well i did only play it for about a month. but it doesnt need many of those previously mentioned details because its susposed to look cartoonish and futuristic.
a PC game should always look better then a next gen console game. i dont know, just my2cents.

Isint it really hard to make/build/buy a pc that can run crysis anyway?. In an issue of game informer like 2 months ago they said rumor has it tah they are planning to release crysis on only the ps3 because the 360 cant handle that processing needed

I'm not a big fan of playing FPS games on the P.C...

The only genres I perfer on it are mostly RTS.
