I am hoping to start a topic of discussion with data and evidence, if any, about the possibility of the USO phenomina being something of interest. I have seen a few programs on this subject and found it pretty interesting possibility. I like to look at this from a skeptic point of view, and see what other people have to say on this subject.

yeah, uso's are very interesting. The best case i have looked into, and still unexplained is the shag ( no jokes) harbor case. But there are quite a few good cases that i will have to dig up.

Alright! Another "Yes it is", "No it isn't" thread! Awesome!

The only difference between this thread and the 'best evidence' thread is water.

True.

and here's the definition of one of the Acronym the letters USO hold (Unidentified SUBMERGED Object) in case some of you don't know, since the starting poster didn't bother to do it.

An Unidentified Submerged Object, or USO, is defined as any object or optical or mechanical detection phenomenon of unknown origin observed within water that remains unidentified even after thorough investigation and are real. The maritime analog to a UFO, or unidentified flying object, unidentified submerged objects are often seen by those who study unidentified flying objects as a phenomenon the same as or similar, but encountered in water instead of atmosphere. Likewise, many sightings of USOs constituting "typical" UFOs emerging from the water are seen as a subset of the latter rather than the former. Although identifying and dispelling unidentified flying objects has typically been important to militaries as a national security issue, the comparatively rare USO sightings have not been reported as national security threats or caused the form of sensation that typical UFO sightings often have.

Speaking of politicians, it's interesting to note, that whilst they haven't officially had a military UFO contact, that the Japanese Parliament recently discussed UFO's. Statistically, they'd have to have some of the lowest number of sightings in the world.

This one's rather interesting. In some ways I'm reminded of Botticelli's Birth of Venus painting. Possible link there?

I sort of got off track on the Roswell thread with this story. No physical evidence, but it is interesting to see similar story elements turn up in two completely different cultures. Wonder why the ocean isn't giving up any more beautiful, fair haired, young women...

45mins blurry images even blurrier, and if your connection is slow like mine is today, expect to wait a while for it to buffer. If you want to search youTube, you'll be able to find it in 5 parts there.

for the japanese pics, like i posted on the other thread, in the dragons triangle doc on youtube, they talk about people seeing those, and drawing them, maybe around 200years ago. they had seen them leave the water, then descend back into them as well. quite interesting for being that long ago.

OK it was a bad time to me bring up this topic, my wife and I are having a new little boy tomorrow, and will be a bit busy to take this topic to the serious level that I wanted to. So if anyone wanted to continue this thread, go ahead, but I'll be following up and linking and dicussing my thoughts on this in probably 2 weeks as time online will be sporatic at best.

Seems that USOs really aren't the subject of serious study. So far I've only found one researcher who's making a serious effort to provide a web resource for the phenomena that's seperate from the UFO phenomena.
The Blue Book study is interesting, though it has a lot of charts and graphs, and only a few actual cases (though you are able to learn that only 2% of all Blue Books cases occured over the ocean, and that the Navy did have a reporting system for all marine sightings by military and civillian ships)

Blue Book Study Link

Shag Harbour case Link
Whilst it's more of the UFO variety, it did occur over water, and the alleged 'craft' did end up becoming a USO wink2.gif

Anyone interested in doing some further reading might find "Maritime UFO Files" by Don Ledger useful (I haven't read it, so any reviews would be helpful original.gif )

I remember a very eiree USO story that has haunted me ever since first reading of it.

A russian research ship was at sea when two onboard noticed an underwater disc. Five divers were sent to check it out. A light came from within the disc and the divers started swimming towards it. One turned back and waved beore going inside. They were never seen again.

unlike ufos, usos dont have many explanations. they could simply be hallucinations due to months at sea, misidentified animals, atmospheric conditions, secret military craft

true, but its weird hearing stories of them from like a hundred + years ago. and having drawings of them. looking like large cicular disks/crafts. rising from the water and taking off, or submerging back into the water.

I'm wondering when more of the crew of the USS Roosevelt will come forward.

Its a ufo no its the lost city of Atlantis... no its just a large object from the sea ( a ship or submarine ) that became a victim of buoyancy and floated up to the surface. You should read a book about this in your spec ed glass. either that or go kill your self do one and then the other.
