I have been searching the web trying to find out information about a symbol and the name behind it.
I cannot seem to copy the image of this symbol from the webpage it is on, but you can see it here: www.lucaifem.com (the page is a blank, black backround with the symbol in the center).
Does anyone also know what lucaifem or daecaunt means? There are some writings on the site that highly intrigue me, but the symbol is what really arouses my curiosity. Any ideas what culture it is from? Or does it look made up?
I placed this question in this section because the source is a public artist/musician.

tnx

Fiction and art/music. That's all it looks like to me.

It's just a name he's chosen for himself and his work. As far as the symbol goes...its the planetary symbol for Saturn..

The Two responses above are correct. A search of "Daecaunt" brings 3 Google pages!

I thought of that, but its not quite the same as the greek symbol for saturn. I also cant seem to find any greek mythos in his work anywhere. it seems to be more nordic oriented? I guess the name has to be original since nothing is turning up anywhere else. thanks for the ideas
does anyone know the true symbol for Thor? he has a rather interesting writing about Thor.

While we're on the topic of strange symbols, anyone know what this is?

It looks like a form of Arabic writing to me; that's just a guess, though. original.gif

My thoughts too.

It's a ring I found. It may have belonged to my great grandmother(Now passed) who collected many strange things, some of which found their way into my own collections.

It's a gold color with silver hear and there. I would say it is very old except that it turns my finger green.

Those arabic letters are:

r sy ng.... with wau (u) on top..?

what the heck?? Well, I learned malay arabic (arabic spelling but with old fashion malay language) long time ago, so Im not sure what it is...

probably Rasulullah ? which means the messenger of Allah

Looks like the 2 words are made up corruptions of other words. My best guess would be luciform- Having, in some respects, the nature of light; resembling light and the latin word duc.unt(minus the fullstop of course-darn filter sad.gif )- to lead or be led.

To the person with the ring, I'd be inclined to say that it's some form of Arabic Calligraphy, though the only symbol I can recognize is that backwards looking 3 at the end of the word, 'Ayin...

"Messenger of Allah"? On a ring?? That's pretty cool(Wearing it right now) But since you are not sure- not saying that I don't believe you -let's say it's still open.

Oh, and juliasommers, apologies for diverting your thread. I just figured why start another thread about a strange symbol when there already is one ^^;

Well I was curious and did the research and wrote the guy and this is what he said :

My Mark ("ūre") is not the planetary symbol for Saturn.
It is a Mark representative of my Function und is part of an early branding System complimentary of my Cast.

so thar ya go!

It's almost like he's insinuating that it's like the 'mark of the beast'....but I think ....it really means it's 'his mark' for his 'work'.....art,music,writings...

That's strange, I tried emailing him a while back and never received a reply. thanx for the effort tho. I too wonder what he means by what he wrote.
What is "my Cast", and what is his function? did you actually ask him where the symbol comes from? I've seen some stuff before about symbols of angels that looked alot like what he has up. "pre" is latin for "before" right?

I don't believe the 'p' in 'pre' is a 'p' or even a 'b' if you take a closer look. I never asked where it came from, I only asked if it was the symbol for Saturn. As far as his 'cast'.....he must mean his 'style'............ and his 'function' maybe his 'purpose' or 'project'...... if you read the whole site,(which isn't much right now) you see how he talks in poetic and cryptic terms............ He's just being overly dramatic hmm.gif

There's alot of interesting reading on there. i'm still searching the web trying to find the origin of that symbol tho.

YEA!!! Finally!! w00t.gif He finally replied! I had to email him from a different account than I used before and he finally sent me a reply ~**and I cant believe what a complete gentleman he is! blush.gif **~. he basically sent me the same reply that he sent you, but I did ask the origin of his symbol and he said : For the Purpose of Your inquiry, the Historic root of my Mark is an early branding System complimentary of my Cast. It has since been vaguely und falsely associate with few Scribing in various Grimoiren (compliment of Parecelsus, early 16th Centenium). I now have to research what a grimoiren is and who or what parecelsus is, but at least its something more than what I had. I wont be rude and bug him for more details since he seemed happy with what he was giving me.
