A huge piece of Hetian jade finally arrived in Shenzhen special economic zone after being transported for six years.

The jade weighs 11 tons, is 3.75 m long, 1.35 m high and 1.44 m wide.

The stone was found in the Kunlun mountains. Every winter for the past six years it was gradually towed by yaks to the main road, a distance of 500 km.

The jade finally arrived in Shenzhen late last week, and cost a total of 30,000 yuan ($4,200) to transport.

Jade experts believe it is worth more than 60 million yuan. ($8,500,000.00)

6 years?! did they drag the jade? or used mules?

Couldn't they just have auctioned off parts of the jade(if it was worth so much) to sponsors to help with the transport? It would've looked like a big green race car, or something like this..

They lose jade points for not thinking outside the yak-box on this one.

I,d really love to see a picture of this huge hunk of jade! I wonder how many vases, jewelry and trinkets will come out of a chunk that big?
