Are horoscopes true?
i, myself read it once in a while
but ive heard from a few people
that its all mostly fake. it tells you
which signs are perfect for you...etc
the descriptions according to
your sign sometimes do end up
relating to you. that's why i'm kind
of intrigued.
any opinions would be appreciated.

Horoscopes are not scientifically valid/supported. As for *truth*, that can very often be a matter of faith.

They do make a good filter. Anyone who asks or shows any interest in what your star-sign is is obviously a flake that needs to be avoided.

General statements that apply to anyone. Putting people in the mind set as to what their horoscope predicts.
IE: Girl decides she is not going going clubbing this week. Horoscope says she's gonna find love this week. Her girlfriend phones, asks her if she wants to go to nightclub, she accepts.
Pushing yourself by proxy.

Take 9 minutes out of your day to watch Carl Sagan throw some light on astrology.

Watched the video.
My opinion about astrology is that it is a valuable self identification tool but that our future is not in the stars. I am a Leo and have read a lot about my sign. I f I had not read so much about it I could allow myself to believe what Carl says, but the more you read about the personality traits of the signs the less vague they are and I can usually tell someones sign after a conversation with them because of the distinction. in short I put stock in the zodiac but not so much daily predictions.

I personally don't pay attention to my horoscope. One being, I'm on the cusp, and I get kind of tired trying to figure out, which sign do I go by, the one in the magazine, or the one in the newspaper, because I'm one sign by my birthdate in one, and I'm another according to the other. If I go by both, then I feel like it's a tug of war. What really settled it for me, is the constant theme that is said over and over. I always read that I will find love today, and I wonder how it could mean me as well, when I have been married for some time now. *Shrugs* It's like to me, it's a dime a dozen.

I used to write horoscopes and I can honestly say that I pulled very general statements out of my @$$ and was then constantly approached by people who praised how "right on" I was. I couldn't deal with the guilt of knowing that I was just B-S-ing, so I quit.
Edit: The girl that took the job after me did the same thing, but less successfully. You have to know how to make very general statements, but still be able to get different ones for each sign. I was blessed with the gift of writing horoscopes. . .but cursed with a conscious. . .

I don't read my horoscope because they're so generalized and at least one statement may refer to anyone...But I did read a huge ency clopedia of birth signs, and that was more significant as to my traits, habits, colors, numbers, etc....
